The Good Wife – Hitting the Fan

I actually do watch The Good Wife. I don’t agree with everything in it but it is an interesting show with lost of twists. The all important question this season is…..which team are you on? Team Lockhart/Gardner or Team Florrick/Agos?

Team Florrick_Agos

Personally, I am on Team Florrick/Agos because I want Alicia to fight for her marriage, but I have a funny feeling she and Peter are going to have more struggles ahead of the due to the woman hired to run his ethics committee. I also think Alicia is seeing how Will is treating Diane during this transition time and is becoming wiser in determining what she wants and where she wants her career to go.

For those unfamiliar with the show or do not watch it, here’s a synopsis about The Good Wife:

THE GOOD WIFE stars Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Julianna Margulies as Alicia Florrick, a wife and mother who reinvents her life following her husband’s sex and political corruption scandal. Four years into her tenure at the law firm of Lockhart/Gardner, Alicia accepts a prestigious partner offer from her bosses, Diane Lockhart, Will Gardner and David Lee. However, a mutual attraction with Will leaves Alicia conflicted after she agrees to renew her vows with her husband, Peter, who has won the gubernatorial election with the help of campaign manager Eli Gold. After much thought, Alicia agrees to leave Lockhart/Gardner to start a new firm with her colleague, Cary Agos, who is unable to convince investigator Kalinda Sharma to join them. Now, Alicia must find a way to balance her evolving career, her new position as First Lady of Illinois and her roles as a wife and mother to her teenage children, Zach and Grace. Emboldened by the prospect of taking control of her future, Alicia bravely ventures into unknown territory.

“The Good Wife” began its fifth season Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 on the CBS Television Network.

About the upcoming October 27th Episode:

The heat is on as Alicia and Cary’s plans to leave the Lockhart/Gardner firm are suddenly exposed, with Diane getting suspicious, leading to a frantic battle for clients, on The Good Wife, Sunday, October 27 at 9:00-10:00pm ET on CBS Television Network. Will you be watching as the heat is on?

Brother Vs. Brother

This is a featured post.

Reality TV is here and probably here to stay since so many reality shows are popular among viewers. Our family watches a few like X-factor, Shark Tank, Undercover Boss, Secret Millionaire. Then there are others that we just shake our heads wondering why they are even on the air. We have also seen a few episodes of a home buyers show and another one where they go in and demolish homes, fix them up and resell them. They were fun to watch too. If you are into real estate and construction etc. then the new home renovation competition show Brother vs. Brother on HGTV will be of interest to you.

HGTV’s popular property brothers face-off in new home renovation competition, brother vs. brother. Identical twins, Jonathan Scott, a licensed contractor, goes up against is realtor brother, Drew Scott, in this battle of the skills competition of home renovation upgrades and highest increase in property value. The show will also feature other HGTV real estate stars like, Mike Aubrey (Power Broker), Kennon Earl (Selling LA) and Hilary Farr and David Visentin (Love It or List It). The winning team takes home a $50,000 grand prize.

Viewers can even vote for their favorite brother team by using hashtags #TeamDrew or #TeamJonathan Via HGTV.com/brothers.

Take a peek at the show’s promo video:

The show premieres Sunday, July 21, at 10 pm ET with a six-episode series to give us a taste of the Property Brothers skills set.

What reality shows do you watch? And will you be catching the Brother vs. Brother show?

Break Away Review

break

Break Away is a new movie from the producers of Faith Like Potatoes and Journey to Grace. It’s an inspiring Christian film about how God always provides.

Francois is a husband and father who recently lost his job after his company went bankrupt. He’s struggling to provide and understand why this happened to him. Through the ups and downs, he discovered how to multiply and use what he had. With the help and support of good friends, his wife, and his brother.

Break Away had a good message. At times it lagged and was a wee bit boring, but the message was wonderful. Hearing about how God always provides and loves his children is a message always worth hearing.

We found that the soundtrack sometimes overpowered the sound and it was often hard to follow. Since it takes place in South Africa, the actors accents can be very hard to understand at times.

You can find Word Films on Facebook. Be sure to like them so you can find out more about Break Away and their other old and upcoming films.

Connect 2 Happiness GaiamTV

Many new year resolutions are made in hopes of resolving or at least improving health, weight or financial issues. All worthy goals but how many people actually succeed in accomplishing what they set out to do for the whole year? Wouldn’t it be better to start with a shorter time frame? Say…30 days. Like a 30-day challenge. Wouldn’t it be more fulfilling to take one month at a time rather than attacking the whole year in one shot?

If health, nutrition or weight loss were on your new year’s resolution, one way you can start living a healthy, happy lifestyle is to take advantage of all the great health, nutrition and food shows and documentaries at GaiamTV. I came across quite a few things I have never seen before, it’s definitely geared towards the health conscious.

I don’t know what I was expecting from GaiamTV but it was completely different to my expectations. Much more education than entertainment.

Gaiam TV is like Netflix for the mind, body and spirit and contains over 2,000 titles! Like other streaming networks, GaiamTV is available 24/7. Its service capabilities include personal computers, iPads and smartphones. GaiamTV is subscription based $9.95 per month, with unlimited access to content, not strings attached, no commitment and cancel at anytime. For convenience, GaiamTV offers a free 10-day trial.

Connect 2 Happiness with GaiamTV

What if your goal is just to not only work on your health but also work on your happiness? Gaiam also has their Connect 2 Happiness 30-day challenge that will inspire you to take a deep look inside to figure out what truly makes you happy. Below you will find Day 1 challenge:

STOP. LOOK. LISTEN.

When we take a moment to listen to our inner guide, we get clues that can lead us down the path toward true happiness. Choosing what makes us feel happy over what makes us feel safe can take us out of our comfort zone; yet when we connect our passions with our actions, we stop seeking and start living. Find your joy: listen to yourself, and take action.

Start a conversation with your inner guide. Ask yourself these three questions, and listen closely to the answers.

1) What makes you happy?
2) What are you passionate about?
3) How can you bring more of that into your life?

I thought these were very good questions. Definitely made me think about things I haven’t thought about in a long time. I think a little self-reflection is good for the soul. More spiritual people might attribute it to letting a Higher Power guide them rather than their inner self. Either way I think it’s a positive exercise.

Web

I like doing things like this and find it motivating.

What about you what makes you happy? How do you think GaiamTV and the Connect 2 Happiness 30-Day Challenge could help you? Remember to visit the Connect 2 Happiness promotion and check out GaiamTV, if you haven’t already.

Party Time with The Amazing Spider-Man! #SpiderManWMT #Cbias

Ever since our first post about The Amazing Spider-Man our children have been eagerly anticipating hosting our party and watching The Amazing Spider-Man movie, which is due to be released on DVD on November 9th. It took us four different extended invitations before we found some guests available and interested in coming to a Spider-Man themed pizza party and each time our children asked, “Is so and so coming over?” so they were pretty excited when we got the yes.

We went party shopping at Walmart and bought fruit – we made carmel apples – veggies, Spider-Man themed party supplies and Marketside pizza. Walmart will be releasing Amazing Spider-Man themed Augmented Reality triggers that will be included on the pizza box & display pallet, triggering special Amazing Spider-Man experiences on the iPhone, iPad or Android in-store, especially for shoppers.

I found that playing hostess with people outside our household didn’t give me or my daughters the same freedom or time in snapping photos of everything and anything due to taking care of my guests. I tried though.

We ate first before going down to our basement to watch the movie.

The Amazing Spider-Man Movie

All the younger children waiting for the rest of the adults to watch the movie. Sorry about the dark photo.

The adults were upstairs talking and enjoying quiet conversation while the children were downstairs waiting. We interrupted them to get a group picture.

If you read my previous post, you know that we took advantage of the pre-order opportunity to get a digital download of Spider-man on DVD or Blu-Ray on Vudu.com. I also set up an UltraViolet™ (UV) account, which “is a new movie industry standard that allows you to securely store your digital movie collection in the cloud.” We really like online streaming technology.

The Amazing Spider-Man is rated PG-13, unfortunately for families with young children. I wish I had watched it in advance. I naively thought “Spider-Man…what could possibly be wrong with it” and neglected to read the rating, I should have known better. There were a couple of scenes I quickly had to cover up. A brief glimpse of one scene made our 10 year old son say, “That scene on the subway was unnecessary.” And guess what? He’s right.

The movie wasn’t bad, if you haven’t seen it yet, but a lot of the story line was changed if you are use to another version. Even the children noticed since they’ve watched the animated version. We tend to not like new changes.

After watching the movie we gave our younger guests The Amazing Spider-Man goodie bags and they left for home since it was getting late. We thoroughly enjoyed entertaining and look forward to the next time.

Emily Owens MD

Emily Owens MD is a new show premiering on October 16th. It is about a new doctor, Emily Owens, acclimating to a new hospital where her “idol surgeon” works. The premise of the show is that Emily now feels grown-up and feels she can finally put her nerdy teenie boppy ways behind her. Little does she realize that the hospital, Denver Memorial Hospital, is just a grown up version of high school.

Emily Owens is played by Mamie Gummer, of “The Good Wife”, and is also the daughter of Meryl Streep and Don Gummer.

I have to admit that I really enjoyed the highly entertaining and emotional evoking pilot episode I recently had the opportunity to review. I’d rate the language as PG-13+, which is disappointing but I get that I am a rare bird when it comes to stuff like that. Due to the adult content I won’t be allowing my younger children to watch it, however, my oldest watched it with me and really liked Emily Owens too.

But don’t take our word for it watch the promo:

Funny, eh? I laughed and cried throughout the show. I loved the sensitivity of Emily’s bedside manner as a doctor, but developed a very strong dislike for a couple of characters who seemed bent on making life difficult for Emily. See what I mean about the show appealing to the emotions?

Be sure to check it out for yourself on Tuesday, October 16 from 9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT on the CW Television Network.

The NY Times wrote up a nice piece about this new TV show here: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/09/arts/television/the-new-season-mamie-gummer-of-emily-owens-md.html?_r=1

BRAVE in Theatres June 22!

This is a rare Movie Monday about Brave…

Have you heard of Disney/Pixar’s new movie coming out next week? Have you watched any of the clips? I’ve received several to share but they usually get cast off for something else I have to work on. But today I am sharing one! Do the happy movie dance for me, ok? Ha-ha!

It is about a new princess, Merida, who seems to have a mind of her own. Very strong willed, passionate and courageous.

This looks like it will be quite the movie! What do you think of this hilarious new “Summer Games” clip?

It’s also a bit gross in parts with some little boy humor, eh?

Brave will be in Theaters near you on June 22. Check your local listings. In the mean time be sure to check out the movie’s Facebook page.
