Back to College with the Lowest Priced Unlimited Plans

Collective Bias

I have mentioned before that our oldest daughter heads off to college in less than a year. #Phones4School #CollectiveBias. One of the things on our to-do list is to research cheap wireless plans. We desire to get her set up with a technological life line a.k.a a cell phone when she is away from home. A cell phone will enable her to communicate when she’s out, give her a life line if she gets stranded or if, God forbid, she runs into trouble. We also want her to have a phone for when she starts driving by herself in a few months.

#Shop

My daughter was away at her cousin’s house all weekend. It was fun to surprise her with a trip to the store to buy her an early college present. We purchased Alcatel One Touch Fierce ($99.88) for $34.88/month, an unlimited talk text and data/web plan with Walmart’s Family Mobile (T-Mobile is the carrier), plus $25 for the starter kit. We love the unlimited aspect of this plan. It is also affordable for a college student on a limited budget. Bobbie is already figuring on paying for her phone herself. Of course, we are not complaining!

On the way home in the car she was setting up her calendar, which she is going to need to keep track of classes, assignments, exams and activities while she is away in college. She is obviously very excited to have her own smart phone! Other features she likes are the graphics. She is also looking for apps for homework, budgeting and exercising. She is having fun learning her way around her new phone.

The Alcatel One Touch Phone is perfect for college students because it is not only portable but it is a smart phone with all the bells an whistles – talk, text, web/data, 4G capability, camera and a 4.5″ touch screen. The monthly plans are budget friendly for both students and families.

The Snugg

FFR image for posts

Keeping my iPad mini safe, protected, and easy to travel with is super important to me.  My son loves reading books on it and watching movies so it needs to be protected from little hands as well.  When I look for cases I look for three main things, functionality, quality, and style.  I was very impressed with the Robust & Functional iPad mini Executive Case in Pink PU Leather from The Snugg.

photo 4

First of all I loved the color of the case. It matches my personality perfectly, I just love pink!  When I opened the package I liked how soft and smooth the leather was.  To put the iPad mini in I simply opened the side, slid in the iPad, and clasped the velcro strap to keep it secure.  It fit nice and snug in the case, I don’t have a doubt in my mind that it would fall out or even shift a little bit.  It has a spot for a stylus, which is very handy.  The case also has a side pocket and a spot for four credit cards, IDs, or business cards.  It can hold everything you need, so it’s great for travel.

photo 3

I loved how easy it was to fold back the case to create a stand to watch movies or read books. It was so easy my four year old was able to do it on his own.

photo 2

The Snugg case did not interfere with any of the buttons, camera, or charging ports of the iPad.  With each Snugg product comes a lifetime guarantee.  Simply register your case through their easy to use website and they guarantee a brand new replacement case if you are not at fault for the problem.

The Snugg offers a wide variety of cases for tablets, smartphones, laptops, eReaders, audio, and cameras.  They have many different styles & colors, and offer free standard shipping. If you are looking for a stylish, high quality, great functioning case for any of your technology devices, look no farther than The Snugg. You won’t be disappointed!

VTech Phone System for Seniors & Giveaway

FFR image for posts

A year or two ago my mother-in-law was going about her usual morning, however, one normal routine proved disastrous for her. She used her dresser to pull herself up from her bed and she inadvertently caused the dresser to fall on her, trapping her. My husband worked five minutes from her home. That one day he called her before he left work instead of dropping by but the phone was busy. He thought nothing of it and decided she was talking to his aunt and left for home instead of going over to her house. My mother-in-law in the meantime tried to use her cane to get her bedside phone but only knocked it off the hook. Fast forward 24 hours later, my brother-in-law discovers her with the dresser STILL on top of her. A bit of her history: she’s a diabetic with a history of leg and foot clots. Talk about scary! After recovering, she was suppose to get an emergency bracelet but I don’t think the home nurse ever followed through and to be honest we allowed it to fall through the cracks as well. Enter the VTech Phone System for Seniors.

The VTech Phone System for Seniors

FFR VTech CareLine Home Phone

FFR VTech CareLine Home Phone_1

My mother-in-law is nearing 82 years old and still lives on her own. Yes, even after the above incident. “VTech’s new CareLine home telephone system supports independent living, featuring a wearable pendant that allows seniors to conveniently make and receive calls, listen to voicemail messages, review missed calls or receive programmed reminders for medication, appointments or other events.” This seems like the perfect phone for my mother-in-law!

We have been testing it out before taking it to my mother-in-law’s house. It has large numbers, it has a bright display and it calls out the numbers as you dial as well as announces a call. We love that it has the pendant to go around her neck so she can just push the button if she finds herself in a situation where she needs help. We are looking forward to installing this phone in her home. Hoping she likes it too!

The best part – No fees!

VTech CareLine – Want to stay socially connected? Seniors are empowered to maintain active lifestyles and close relationships with this home telephone and personal communication system. This product was designed to answer your daily communications needs and support hearing, dexterity or vision challenges. Features include large displays, photo speed dial, reminder capabilities, volume boost and a wearable pendant with one-button dialing that directly calls those pre-selected people who you communicate with most or for emergencies.

Sharkk Car Charger Review

FFR image for posts 61FIE35PRWL._SL1500_

Sharkk Car Charger

I found a great product!!! Love it … Love it!!

group-car-usb

This is a great car charge that charges up to two USB devices in the cigarette lighter of your car. This is a great for charging any technology device. I use it to charge both my phone and my Bluetooth. I am never scurrying to find an outlet… I can just charge both from the car! The best part is that I can drive, use my devices, and charge at the same time!

The other great attributes are the changeable non-slip grip area of the charger. You can interchange the grip from white to black, kind of fun… but having that extra grippage while driving if needing to plug or unplug can come in handy!

Here are the specs of the device!

Our Review: Our three year old loved his VTech bulldozer. Everything about it. If he couldn’t find it, he was asking where it was and the hunt was on! We’ll see how long it lasts. Parents may not like the sounds it makes though!

FFR Vtech Easter Basket Collage_

- The range features six new dinos, including Dart the Triceratops, Zipp the T-Rex, Spur the Stegosaurus, Fray the Ankylosaurus, Cruz the Spinosaurus and Spinner the Stygimoloch.

Our Review: Our six year old really liked this product. I am not sure if he took it apart at all yet but he has been playing with it and taking really good care of it, as is characteristic of him and his belongings. We haven’t had it long enough to see how long it will last long term but so far so good.

Does Registry PC Cleaning Software Really Work?

FFR Featured Post

Have you ever questioned does registry PC cleaning software really work? We have. That’s why when we recently had the opportunity to try PC Health Boost, a registry PC cleaning software we jumped on it. We immediately experienced a difference in the performance of our old laptop, which has been sluggish and temperamental. Now it is faster and issues with Netflix pausing at 33% while loading is no longer an issue.

PC Health Boost is a PC cleaning software that gives your PC that extra boost it needs to perform better by fixing tiny issues. When we ran the software, it literally fixed over 200 issues. Who knew a computer could have that many issues?

This software is only for the Windows OS.

Boost Software, INC is a Microsoft Gold Partner and has won tons of awards for their software, which eased my mind concerning the risks involved with downloading software from the internet to our computer. PC Health Boost is very user friendly. Our 14 year old daughter was the one to download it onto the computer and she had no issues doing so. It just took her a little while to find out where to enter our complimentary license key.

For all my skepticism about registry cleaners, I have to say I am pleased the old laptop is working better than it was before. Here’s to hoping we get a few more months out of it!

React Mobile App

This is a sponsored campaign with Mums the Word Network and React Mobile. All opinions are my own.

React Mobile

Have you ever felt like you need to do more to insure your family stays safe? I think we all have. React Mobile is a free safety app for Androids and iPhones that allows you to call out for help with the touch of a button if you encounter any kind of danger or safety issues!

The React Mobile App is very easy to use. All you have to do is download the app to your phone. Here are the specific features of this app:

- SOS Alerts email
- SOS via text
- SOS to Facebook and Twitter
- SOS to dedicated user console
- GPS location tracking
- 911 button/prompt
- Group SMS messages

The app will give you several options right from the get-go.

React Mobile_4

You can sign up using your email or Facebook account. I choose to register using my email.

React Mobile_5

At the bottom of the app you have four different choices: Map, Send SOS, Contacts (you can add your own contacts) and Send SMS Message to broadcast to your contact list.

React Mobile_6

The SOS messaging system allows you to alert authorities, family and friends if you are in trouble or need assistance with the swipe of your finger.

React Mobile_1

The React Mobil App even has a “Follow Me” feature and your family can follow you in real-time for those non-emergency situations where you may feel unsafe and just want to touch base with those you love. How reassuring is that? I can see this being very useful when you have teens in the house!

React Mobile_3

There is a “Settings” feature that allows you to post your alert message to Facebook or twitter, as well as a setting to choose which country you are in. The React Mobile App is currently only available in the USA and Canada.

My-Baby-Book App

FFR Featured Post

My-Baby-Book app is a cute little app to record all the necessary information from your pregnancy test, pregnancy through to your baby’s first 18 months of life. I think it would be a great tool since so often I would write down milestones on sticky notes to add to our baby book….once I got around to it. Then I would end up losing them or misplacing them. Whereas with the app I always have my phone on me and it would be easy to grab it and make the necessary notes in the My-Baby-Book app for milestones baby reached as they happened. Very handy and convenient. Busy moms, techie moms and moms trying to go digital will appreciate what this app has to offer by way of storing important dates, times, milestones etc.

The home page needs to be swiped to start the app and takes you to the cover of the My-Baby-Book app, which allows you to edit and personalize it with your baby’s name:

My Baby App_1

My Baby App_7

The next page is the table of contents. The main menu is a bear with building blocks…cutest menu I’ve seen yet! The main menu is located in the top left corner when not in use.

My Baby App_2

Here’s what Kim, mom of two, had to say about My-Baby-Book app:

What a useful app! I love that you can store all of your baby’s growth information on your phone or tablet so when you’re at the doctor it’s on hand and easy to update. My favorite is the baby’s firsts section. I’m always writing down on post-it’s when my daughter does something for the first time. The post-it notes have been piling up since I haven’t had time to dig out her baby book to write them in. Great features and super user friendly!

More of the Table of Contents:

My Baby App_3

There’s even a page for details about Mommy and Daddy:

My Baby App_4

A page for pregnancy notes:

My Baby App_5

Growth charts:

My Baby App_ 5

There are even pages for baby’s firsts and birthday details:

My Baby App_7

Overall, we think this app is very useful!! It can be found on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/app/id780610409
