Cinco de Swap with Avocados from Mexico and $100 Gift Card Giveaway

“This sponsored post was made possible by The Motherhood and Avocados from Mexico. I have been compensated for my time and work on this campaign, however all opinions are 100% my own.”

Last Friday night four Chicago area bloggers gathered together to experience Cinco de Swap with Avocados from Mexico. We each made an avocado dish (or two) to pass and share. There was one blogger who had never tried avocados before. The majority of us were trying new recipes from avocado macaroni and cheese, avocado ice cream, guacamole and avocado fries. For some fabulous photos of the dishes served visit Frosted Fingers!

Did you know that avocados from Mexico are available all year round? I didn’t know this. I also didn’t know this when I chose a recipe for BLT sandwiches:

Fresh avocado in sandwiches, on toast or substituted as a spread in place of many other popular foods may help reduce your intake of calories, fat, saturated fat, sodium and cholesterol.

Avocado BLT and Turkey Sandwich

I also did not know that one ounce (3 slices) of an avocado has 50 calories and contributes nearly 20 vitamins and minerals, making it a good choice to help meet nutrient needs! I find that amazing.

However, I did know that avocados are full of good fats our bodies need. One of the reasons I would feed it to my little ones as babies – my older girls to this day love avocados. It makes for a very easy to prepare meal. Just wash it, cut it open, de-pit it and start spooning baby bites into baby’s (or your) mouth! Easy peasy! Our younger crew didn’t even notice the avocados on the avocado BLT turkey sandwiches.

Avocado Fries Cinco de Mayo

Not very many in my family liked the avocado fries. I thought they tasted good, but liked Michelle’s (of Honestly and Truly) idea of serving them with a yummy dip.

Avocado Recipes

Here’s the link to the recipe that inspired our Avocado Fries. However, we did not fry them, we baked them and we used olive oil instead of canola oil. We also used regular bread crumbs seasoned with our own spices.

Our Avocado BLT Turkey Sandwich was inspired by this Turkey Avocado Bacon Sandwich recipe.

Johnson & Johnson Donate a Photo Plus Giveaway

This is a compensated post by The Motherhood and J&J. I also free J&J product for my participation.

Everyone is familiar with the Johnson & Johnson brand and probably use at least one of their products, if not more, in your home. Well, they are running a campaign right now called The Donate a Photo, using The Donate a Phone app. The campaign is encouraging people to donate a photo and for every photo donated, J&J will donate $1 to one charity of your choosing.

The campaign kicks off with three charitable partners to choose from:
Keep America Beautiful: One photo helps restore a community park.
Save the Children: One photo helps a newborn get medicine to thrive.
Safe Kids: One photo protects seven children from a preventable sports injury.

The Donate a Photo app is available for download in the App Store and Google Play. Be sure to head over to HealthyEssentials.com and register to save on J&J products. J&J coupons will be available in newspapers and online starting on Sunday, April 7, which was last week.

The app is really easy to download and use. Very user friendly. All you have to do is sign up for an account, click the buttons through to donate a photo and voila! you are done.

Johnson & Johnson has curated a list of trusted causes, and you can donate a photo to one cause, once a day. Each cause will appear in the app until it reaches its goal, or the donation period ends. If the goal isn’t reached, the cause will still get a minimum donation.

PinkBlush Maternity Review and Giveaway

Faith and Family Reviews received the following product in exchange for writing a review. While we consider it a privilege to receive products to review, our reviews are our honest opinion and thoughts of the product.

Finding maternity clothes is never an easy task.  Some of the major retailers carry them, but it’s usually one very small rack with very few choices.  While their clothes fit, they don’t necessarily accentuate your body in the right places.  PinkBlush Maternity, on the other hand, knows exactly how to make you look and feel good in their very fashionable maternity clothes.  Since they sell exclusively online, their prices are very affordable.  PinkBlush Maternity is constantly changing their inventory to keep up with the everchanging styles.

PinkBlush Maternity1

I was lucky enough to receive their Pale Pink Chiffon Cap Sleeve Maternity Top days before my “Sprinkle” party.  When I opened it up, I thought, wow, am I going to look cute in this!  I tried it on immediately and was blown away by how soft the material was.  The bust part fit perfectly and did not tug or pull.  It’s textured material made me feel very feminine.  The cap sleeves were a little tight at first, but once I wore it to my party they loosened up just a bit.  The pink chiffon on the bottom had an underlay of pink silk-like material.  I was concerned that it might make me feel too big, but I think it really hugged in all of the right places.  It was a little longer than I had expected, but when I paired it with leggings, I think it worked perfectly.  The top was extremely breathable and airy.  I could not believe how comfortable I felt all day.  The top just flowed with my body and did not feel confining or tight in any way.  I felt so fashionable wearing it.  I cannot tell you how many compliments I received the day of my party asking me where I bought my top.  Two of my good friends are also pregnant so I passed their website onto them.  I’ve worn the top a few times after my party as well, and I still get huge compliments on how adorable the top and my belly is.  The top is machine washable, but I hung it to dry.  Since the material is so lightweight, it dried in less than an hour.

PinkBlushMaternity2

PinkBlush Maternity offers tops, bottoms, and dresses from small to extra large.  They even have a clearance section with really cute products at extremely low prices.  I wish I would have known about them in the beginning of my pregnancy.  They even offer $5 flat rate shipping or free shipping if your order is over $50.  Go to their website and sign up with your e-mail to receive exclusive coupons and offers.  PinkBlush Maternity is the place to go for fashionable, comfortable, and affordable maternity clothes.  I will be telling all of my preggo friends this is the place to shop!

Moody Sisters Organic Skincare Review and $25 Gift Card Giveaway!

Faith and Family Reviews received the following product in exchange for writing a review. While we consider it a privilege to receive products to review, our reviews are our honest opinion and thoughts of the product.

Looking for a line of skincare products that are not only organic, but are safe for the whole family? Look no further. Moody Sisters Organic Skincare is a company committed to bringing skincare back to the basics. Not only are all of the ingredients natural and organic, all of their products are homemade. Since they are homemade they are made fresh weekly. All of their products are chemical free, preservative free, paraben free, and organic. I had the opportunity to try two of their many skincare products.

MoodySisters1

The first was their Travel Intense Cream. It is suggested to be used for dry hands, feet, elbows, or at night for intense hydration. My elbows are always dry, especially in the winter. I placed just a dab of the cream on each elbow twice a day, and within three days my elbows were smooth as ever! I have tried many different moisturizers for my elbows and none of them have worked that fast. I also tried the Travel Intense Cream on my feet since they get dry this time of year, too. The first night I rubbed some on the bottom of each foot and put on some socks to lock in the cream. When I woke up I noticed a big difference in the dryness. I did the same thing for three nights in a row and could not believe how soft my feet were. Now I use it everyday on my feet and elbows after I shower to maintain. I cannot believe how well it worked. I like that a little bit of the cream goes a long way. The Travel Intense Cream is similar to a paste, but goes on smooth. It is not oily and it has an absolute wonderful smell to it. It is made with sweet almond oil, apricot kernal oil, cocoa butter, beeswax, water, green tea, aloe, oats, juniper berry, vitamin E, herbal extracts and essential oils. I would recommend it for anyone that has dry skin; you will not be disappointed!

MoodySisters2

Next I tried their Baby Wipe Solution. The solution can be used for reusable wipes or as a feminine hygiene cleanser. I used it with their Natural Bamboo Baby Wipes. Their reusable wipes are ultra soft and the perfect size for babies. They even stay soft after repeated washes. I wish they would make them in adult towel sizes, they are that amazingly soft. The solution came out almost like water and it was easy to spread over the wipe. It smelled absolutely wonderful and I feel it cleaned just as well as disposable wipes, if not better. I really like that the solution is free of chemicals. Some babies have such sensitive skin, that this solution is perfect for all babies. The Baby Wipe Solution is made with water, aloe juice, castile soap, sunflower oil, oat extract, vitamin E, lavender, rose, and tea tree oil.

Overall I was very impressed with the products from Moody Sisters Organic Skincare. They have an entire line of products for all skin types and ages including toners & scrubs, lip & eye products, and body care products. I would highly recommend these products to anyone looking for a quality skincare product that works. What a bonus that they are organic and handmade, too! Check out their website www.moodysistersskincare.com for some great homemade organic recipes you can make at home.

Ecigarettes Giveaway

As you know, my mom is here, and yes we are having a great visit! Mostly staying at home and spending time together, but we have spent Saturdays thrift store shopping. The children are asking, “Why do you have to leave?” ;) She leaves on the 24th. Anyhoo, last week Mom received a box of ecigarettes to try – they even arrived right on her birthday! Great timing, eh? So she’s been using them and our review will be forthcoming later in the month or in April. For now, please feel free to read the Green Smoke review on ecigarettereviewed.com

My hope is that Mom will use ecigarettes to slowly reduce the strength of the nicotine and eventually quit! Her quitting smoking has been my wish since childhood though, so we’ll see where that goes. At least she’ll be able to smoke in public places that doesn’t allow smoking, keeping her out of the cold in the winter.

The purpose of this post is to share an opportunity for those of you who have loved ones who smoke or who are trying to quit, so you can share with them this ecigarettes giveaway and they too can use them to reduce the amount of nicotine they smoke.

Seventh Generation Wipes Review & Giveaway

Baby Boy Seventh Generation Wipes 2

Wipes are an must-have essential in a home with children, at least they are in our house. We not only use them for diaper changes, but for wiping faces, traveling and quick cleaning. Our youngest son has learned from our example and likes to get wipes to clean himself up and he will even clean with them. ;) This is what he’s doing with the Seventh Generation wipes. Can you tell he’s very excited about helping me with the new wipes?

Baby Boy Seventh Generation Wipes

4pckedit

We have been using Seventh Generation wipes over the past few weeks. They are thick, have just the right moisture and do not seem to dry out, unless of course you leave the flip-top lid open for a day. The ones we have came in packages of 64. The packages are plastic with a closeable lid. We like them and are very grateful for no allergic reaction from baby, like some generic brands we have tried. They are actually pretty comparable to other name brands, but better in terms of being hypo-allergenic, free of dyes, fragrances, parabens and having less harmful chemicals. They score well on EWG.org, which is the kind of personal care product our family wants to buy. They soft, just not as soft as I would have liked.

Decluttering Made Easy Giveaway

Decluttering Made Easy

Decluttering and organizing has been a recurring theme here at Faith and Family Reviews. It started with a new year and setting goals. Then the news of my mom’s three week visit, which is now only a week away! Eeeks…..going to be busy this weekend!

When I was pitched to review and share about a brand new Decluttering Made Easy ecourse another blogger developed I thought it was an appropriate topic as so many of us do seem to struggle with staying organized and keeping clutter to a minimum.

Decluttering Made Easy is a 52-week long ecourse that includes coaching, exclusive website membership and access to the Decluttering Made Easy Community Facebook page and private forum.

Each week members will receive tips, ideas and an actual assignment for the week to declutter their home and get better organized. Time management is also discussed. Included with the weekly assignments are 15 minute how-to videos, PDF assignments and goal sheets (beginning lessons).

What I Liked About Decluttering Made Easy

The questions and suggestions are great and help make decluttering decisions of what to keep and what to get rid of and how.

Encouragement and support through the Decluttering Made Easy online community, IF you make use of it.

What I Didn’t Like About Decluttering Made Easy

Tiffany really didn’t show us examples or what she personally does. Guess I wanted proof of what she was learning herself. I love real life testimonies and photos of before and after a decluttering session. I would have loved to see what her home looked like and how she stays organized. She does tell her story but you have to read about it on the forum, at least I did.

The course is a bit long and cumbersome, at least for this busy working mom. Even though each lesson was 15 minutes long, the thought of having to sit down and listen to a video, do an assignment etc. made me feel a little overwhelmed to be honest. These days I need something simplified, like the 5 Days to a Clutter Free House.
