“God Loves You!” Personalized Children’s Book Review

God’s love graces each creature, the great and the small,

and it soars to the sky like His redwoods so tall.”

This is a beautiful heartfelt book for your children is written by Jennifer Dewing and Illustrated by Maria Carluccio.  It is available at “I See Me! Inc. Personalized Children’s Books“.

God Loves You” won multiple awards in 2010, including Mom’s Choice Award and Creative Child Magazine’s  “Preferred Choice” Award.

There is a great deal of personalization in this book.  You are able to include the following information, child’s first, middle & last name, gender, dedication, sender, the month, day and year!

The book flows along paths of different illustrations, including the ocean, thru the wood, springtime, etc.

Follow this link for a tour of the book “God Loves You!”

This is a great gift for Easter, baptisms, births, or just because.

My Review:

This book is full of love and inspiration for you and your child.  This is going to be the “go to” present for when friends and relatives have new babies.  The personalization in this book is extensive, no more writing in the front cover for me.  I’ve read “God Loves You” for my daughter the past few nights.  She loves the illustrations and I love the message coming from the book.

**”I See Me!, Inc.” did mention to please place your order before March 23rd if you’d like it for Easter.**

SodaStream Review

Turn your water into soda with SodaStream! This a great concept, and it is very healthy for the environment!

So, how does it work?  Glad you asked.  If you purchase a SodaStream online, it will be delivered with a caution of hazardous material papers.  It’s the Carbon Dioxide used to Carbonate the soda.  Assembly is required, however it is very easy.  Then end up looking something like this….Next, you will need to take your reusable carbonating bottle, and fill it with water to the fill line (basically the the entire bottle).  Put the cap on and put it in the fridge to chill (cold water holds a better carbonation).  Once your bottle of water is chilled, take the cap off and tilt the bottle slightly and screw into the SodaStream system.

Pick out your flavor and read the back of the bottle.  Check for the number of “buzzes”, most flavors require 3 “buzzes”.  However, the cola required 5 “buzzes”.  So, make your appropriate “buzzes” and remove your now carbonated water bottle.  It will hiss like opening a soda.  Then, according to the directions on the back of the bottle.  Fill a cap full of soda and pour it into your carbonated water.  My recommendation is to do it over the sink, less messy if you miss the bottle.  Put the cap back on the bottle and shake slightly to mix.

Then ENJOY! Pictured is Cranberry/Raspberry flavor.

Flavors and Machines

There are 7 different machines to choose from and on the SodaStream site there’s a tool to help you choose which machine fits you best.

You’ll also need to replace the carbonator at some point (not sure yet how long it will last and I didn’t see in the directions or online how long they last, sorry.)  SodaStream does suggest to keep an extra around for when yours runs out.

There’s a flavor for everyone!  Choose from over 50 flavors in regular, diet, energy, sparkling naturals, sparkling teas, and MyWater Essence flavors.

Each 16.9 ounce of syrup adds up to about 33 – 12 ounces cans of soda!  Let’s do some math.  If you purchase a 16.9 ounce bottle of Cola from SodaStream which last look was $4.99 and that bottle produces 33 “cans” of soda.  That’s a little over $.15 a “can” of SodaStream soda!  Sounds like a great deal for me.

My Review

I’m in love with the SodaStream!  It’s fun and healthy for my whole family.  Easy to assemble. Granted the machines can get pricey, but the cost of soda makes up for it in my book.  My family and I reviewed 3 different kinds of sodas and 1 tea.

Cola – It’s good, it has a “diet” soda taste to it.  I hope I’m explaining that okay.  Don’t expect it to taste like the big brand colas in the store.  We will be buying that one again.

Cranberry / Raspberry – My daughter wanted the “Pink” soda, so this was our next flavor.  We all really enjoyed it.  It was refreshing and not overwhelming of either flavor.  Yet another on our next shopping list.

Green Tea with Pomegranate Peach – My husband’s next choice.  I know you all want an honest opinion.  Not my favorite flavor, I think the peach made it really sweet and the pomegranate was overwhelming.  Just my opinion, again.

Root Beer –  When I first tasted it, I instantly thought Sarsaparilla!  We had a special treat the other night of SodaStream Root Beer and vanilla ice cream.  It was a hit, and will continue having SodaStream Root Beer Floats as a treat!  Definitely on the next shopping list!

The initial start up will cost a little bit, but once you get going.  I think you’ll make up the cost from buying those big name sodas.

Our Review:

We tried the Cheese Sticks and the Mushrooms…both were very tasty! My children LOVED the cheese sticks. One thing I like is that the bag has a nice Ziploc feature and therefore is able to be resealed…. which makes for a very convenient alternative when you only want to prepare a few snacks and not the entire bag.

My family enjoyed the Farm Rich products and we will buy them again in the future!

The only thing I do have to say is that we used the product finder tool and one of the stores that they told me had the product…did not carry the product when I went to the store. I am not sure if this was just because they do not carry the product or if they just have not gotten the product in yet…but I did end up finding the product at Wal-Mart so that was good!

All in all, the Farm Rich products were tasty and convenient! We will certainly try more options in the future…the children are looking forward to trying the French Toast sticks!

Sweeter than Birdsong

Yes, I have been at it again and had a reading spree! Ha! Sweeter than Birdsong is written by Rosslyn Elliot. This book revealed the harsh realities of a behind the scenes look at one wealthy family’s home life in the 1800’s. Appearances are not always as they seem. 150 years ago the line between one’s pocket book and status in society was of much more importance than it is today. Though depending upon the place or people it can be very much alive today as well. The wealthy seem to have to put on airs and keep one’s appearance impeccable. God forbid there should be a tarnish on one’s image! That alone was a societal faux pas! One reason I am glad I did not live in that era of our history. I think the pressure would have stolen all my joy!

I admire people who take risks for the good of others even when it is not socially acceptable. Today those people would include midwives and God-fearing politicians going against their political party’s “norm”. That’s all I can think of off the top of my head. In Sweeter than Birdsong those individuals were a part of the Underground Railroad. They obviously took great risks and paid a huge price if they were caught or if word leaked to members of their community. And it grieved me to relive what the blacks had to go through to fight for their freedom.

I enjoyed the personal journey of the main character, Kate Winter. Her shyness and fear of public speaking is something that I can definitely relate to. I loved how Rosslyn used Kate’s experience with the Underground Railroad to propel her to take courage and speak up for what is right. She lost her fear and shyness when it came to defending the innocent. It took seeing the “under world” to realize that her problems were quite petty and insignificant compared to those of the fugitives.

There was one surprise that I loved in the book and that was what happened to Kate’s mother at the end of the book, but I don’t want to give away any spoilers so that is all I will say about it!

This book with all of its impossibilities gives hope for change and shows that when we use our God given talents for God’s glory we will find life more rewarding, no matter the monetary cost.

Join BzzAgent to Sample Products!

Here’s BzzAgent

BzzAgent is a WOM (Word of Mouth) Marketing Company.  It’s free (one of my favorite words!).   You take surveys (very simple on question) about items that pertain to you.  This way BzzAgent can find / offer you samples that would interest you and your family.  I signed up a few weeks back and got free coupons to sample Dr. Oetker Ristorante Pizza.  After you test your product, you need to go back to BzzAgent to write a review.  The better your reveviw and sharing the more products you’ll get.

I gotta tell you.  We tried the Ristorante Pizza Mozzarella for lunch, I loved it!  I’m usually not a huge fan of frozen pizza.  The crust was crunchy and the pizza was very flavorful.  You know how sometimes, frozen foods smell better than they taste.  Not this pizza, the tomato, mozzarella and pesto seemed like they were made that morning.  I really enjoyed this pizza and I’m heading back to the store to stock up!  Ristorante Pizzas come in six (6) flavors – Pizza Spinaci, Mozzarella, Funghi, Vegetale, Quattro Formaggi and Speciale.

Enjoy!

Review ~ KitchenKuffs

KitchenKuffs Keep your sleeves up

KitchenKuffs is a great product designed to keep your sleeves out of the way of everyday tasks! I was very excited when I received my KitchenKuffs…I can honestly say that this product has so many uses! Basically the product slips over your sleeves near the wrist area and helps keep your sleeves out of the way of dirt, grime, water, muck…etc. No more continual pushing sleeves up after they slide down…KitchenKuffs keep them up!

I have used KitchenKuffs around the house in so many capacities…especially cooking and washing dishes… they have been invaluable in these two tasks! Once the weather gets warmer I cannot wait to use them while I garden and put up preserves and vegetables in the fall!

I received two pairs, a medium size and an adjustable size. When you visit the website they have a fitting guide so you know which ones to order! When in doubt order the adjustable!

I used the adjustable ones and actually gave the second pair (medium) to my mother. My mom owns an ice cream stand and when I showed them to her she was practically begging me to let her try a pair…so of course I did. She was so excited about how they worked. She usually uses a rubber band to keep her sleeves up when she works serving ice cream and now she has a more comfortable, more fashionable way to keep her sleeves up. Mom also said that she liked that if they got dirty she only had to wash the KitchenKuffs and not her whole jacket!

What a Myriad of uses …KitchenKuffs come in handy in work, play and everyday!

Summer of Promise Blog Tour

The next book up is Summer of Promise by Amanda Cabot and thankfully not a predictable romance! It is romance with a little intrigue thrown in. I really enjoy Amanda Cabot’s books.

Summer of Promise

Summer of Promise is set during the summer of 1885, and Abigail Harding travels from her home in Vermont to the high plains of Wyoming to visit her sister.

I liked that this novel, while based at a Fort, focused on life inside not outside on a battle field. I have never really thought much about the kind of life soldiers lead while living at a fort. This story reveals the stark contrast between the service men on the battle field and those living at the fort.

It has it’s humorous parts. On the spiritual side, the lesson that stood out to me throughout the story was the fact that knowing God’s will and following are two very different things. Patience is needed to wait for God’s leading, so this book was a very good reminder, especially as it relates to my businesses and other things going on in our life right now.

Sisterly love and devotion is another theme that was presented. I am looking forward to the second book in the series! Two thumbs up from me!

Butt Bench Review

My first thought when I was first approached with something called a Butt Bench was, a Butt What?  After looking at the website (http://www.buttbench.com/), my curiosity instantly changed to I need one of these!

A Butt Bench is a wooden seat for the bathtub, it rests on the back of the tub and has 2 suction cups that attach to the wall.   Imagine, not having to be a flamingo or sitting on the edge of your tub trying to shave your legs. How many of us have had near accidents with falling over or sliding around on a slippery tub edge.  Come on, it’s okay we’ve all done it.  With this product, NEVER AGAIN.  The Butt Bench is very sturdy and can easily be removed or installed when it is needed.  Their website says in the FAQ’s section, the Butt Bench can hold up to 300 pounds.  They are available in Cedar,  Pine, Pink Pine, and White Pine.  The Butt Bench is also available in 12″ or 15″.

Here are 2 pictures from the Butt Bench website.

My Review –

Awesome product!  It is indeed sturdy and I feel much safer when shaving my legs.  I came down with a sinus infection is past week and it was great to sit in the steam.  It’s also good storage for shampoo bottles and soaps, no more having an avalanche of bottles.

Good news!  They are having a Valentine’s Sale!

Where Wildflowers Bloom – A Revell Blog Tour

I read Where Wildflowers Bloom shortly after Christmas. It is a book in the Sisters at Heart series written by Ann Shorey.

Unfortunately my review isn’t going to give a stellar rating of this story. It was only ok. I found it a predictable, historical romance. I thought the main character, Faith Lindberg, was a bit flaky and did not make very wise choices because she was trying to run from her problems. Guess I am old enough now that I know running from problems only gives you more problems in the end!

On the other hand, I could understand Faith’s grief and wanting to run away from it because I have been there and done that. It is the realist in me, which is now on the other side of grief, that saw how useless her running away was ineffective against her healing.

I didn’t like the predictable story line. It makes for a rather bland book, in my humble opinion.

Ann Shorey is offering a giveaway that you may enter here.

Little Ace and The Ten Commandments App Review & T-Shirt Giveaway

How cute is this little guy!

It’s never to early to have your children learning about the Ten Commandments, in a fun way! This little cartoon chick goes on a journey to find “the God”.  While in this travels he learns about the Ten Commandments through other cartoon animals.

The narrator of this story has a soothing voice, talks smoothly and slowly. With this iPad app you can turn the narrator on or off, so you or your child can read this e-book.  You can also control to turn the pages or have the “story” turn the pages when it’s time.  In addition, there are interactive opportunities for your child to help the animals with tasks, for example to find the goat’s glasses and put then on the goat. This app is available on iTunes for only $2.99.

Here are a few screen shots.

My Review –

This is a MUST HAVE e-book in my house.  My daughter and I loved it.  I let the narrator read to her (he does the animals voices much better than I).  The app says it good for children 4 and over, however my daughter is 3 and LOVED it.  What I like is it’s a book that will grow with your children.  Once they are at reading age, they can read to you.  The learning experience is also wonderful in a fun way.  My daughter loved the cartoon chick.  The graphics are not fancy or overwhelming.  Just very simple with a lot of impact on the story.  My recommendation is to download it now.  You won’t regret this one!

Here’s the download site – http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/little-ace-ten-commandments/id481298715?mt=8
