Zero Water Review and Giveaway (2 Winners)

STOP BUYING BOTTLED WATER!!!  ZeroWater is here to help save the Earth with it’s water filtration system.  ZeroWater has a “patented 5-stage water filter system and is the only system certified to meet the Food & Drug Administration’s standards for Purified Bottle Water.”

Let’s talk water and TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) – TDS is the substances in your water that make it “taste salty, bitter or metallic.”  I live in the Northeast and have well water.

I used the TDS water meter provided

I tested our tap water and here’s the results.

That meter reads 126 as the glass stood there for a few minutes it went up to 129.  Which in my area of the world is normal for tap water.  Most of the US falls into the 051-200 meter reading.  The ZeroWater filter will produce about 24 to 40 gallons of water for my area.  As the meter reading rises the gallons of water reduces, because the filter has more substances to clean.

I buy bottled water for my family to drink.  If I drink my current tap water from the faucet, frankly it tastes like dirt.  I’ve tried other filtration devices and they haven’t worked.

Here’s what happened to the meter when I put my tap water through the filter.

The meter dropped to 001!  WOW!

For the heck of it – I tried bottled water.

That one was 046!

The Pitcher –

It fits well in the fridge, has a place on the lid to put the TDS meter and a little spout on the bottom.  I don’t even need to take the pitcher out of the fridge!  My only concern in the future would be a leak from the spout.  So, far all is well an no leaks!  Hooray!

The Taste – It improved my water taste tremendously!  No more dirt water and I can finally stop buying bottled water!  ZeroWater recommends that you change your filter when you TDS meter reads 006.

World Water Day was officially on March 22!

My Review – Great product.  As I said earlier my water tasted terrible.  With the ZeroWater Pitcher, I don’t have to buy bottled water anymore!  I can save money and the environment!

Faith and Family Reviews received the following product in exchange for writing a review. While we consider it a privilege to receive free products to review, our reviews are our honest opinion and thoughts of the product.

“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of ZeroWater and received a water pitcher to facilitate my review, two pitchers to giveaway, and extra filters to thank me for taking the time to participate.”

There’s a giveaway!  No, wait there’s 2 GIVEAWAYS!!!

Preventing Mold on Berries

I had a friend of mine sent me an email about preventing mold on berries.  Not sure if it works, fresh berries don’t stay in our house very long.  They are usually gone before any molding sets in. Here’s the tip:

Prepare a mixture of one part white or apple cider vinegar and ten parts water. Put the berries in the mixture swirl them around.  Drain, rinse (if desired) and pop in the fridge.  The vinegar kills any mold spores and other bacteria that might be on the fruit.

I can see how the vinegar would kill the mold, it works great as household cleaner.

Has anyone done this and does it work?

Review ~ KitchenKuffs

KitchenKuffs Keep your sleeves up

KitchenKuffs is a great product designed to keep your sleeves out of the way of everyday tasks! I was very excited when I received my KitchenKuffs…I can honestly say that this product has so many uses! Basically the product slips over your sleeves near the wrist area and helps keep your sleeves out of the way of dirt, grime, water, muck…etc. No more continual pushing sleeves up after they slide down…KitchenKuffs keep them up!

I have used KitchenKuffs around the house in so many capacities…especially cooking and washing dishes… they have been invaluable in these two tasks! Once the weather gets warmer I cannot wait to use them while I garden and put up preserves and vegetables in the fall!

I received two pairs, a medium size and an adjustable size. When you visit the website they have a fitting guide so you know which ones to order! When in doubt order the adjustable!

I used the adjustable ones and actually gave the second pair (medium) to my mother. My mom owns an ice cream stand and when I showed them to her she was practically begging me to let her try a pair…so of course I did. She was so excited about how they worked. She usually uses a rubber band to keep her sleeves up when she works serving ice cream and now she has a more comfortable, more fashionable way to keep her sleeves up. Mom also said that she liked that if they got dirty she only had to wash the KitchenKuffs and not her whole jacket!

What a Myriad of uses …KitchenKuffs come in handy in work, play and everyday!

You can find out more about the product here:

Re-organizing Closets and Office

I finally found some time on Friday to do a bit more organizing. I cleaned out our closet. Still have to do the top shelves but it is looking a lot better than it was. I also put the two little boys clothes cubby in our linen closet/now my husband’s office. We decided to leave the desk in there so he can have a place do bill paying etc. He’s a happy man.

The other photos of what I still need to organize. The boxes and piles are what is in the middle of my bedroom floor. This is baby stuff and clothes that need to be packed up because we are no longer using it, there are books that still need to be unpacked and there is old office equipment and files that need to be put in the basement out of the way. Hoping dh will do that for me after we re-organize and re-pack everything!

Our utility/preserve storage closet got a once, twice over by my boys, but I think it needs a thrice over by mom to get it up to par. So many shoes! Ugh. The little shoe caddy only works if people use it! And it isn’t big enough for boots. I just wanted it cleaned up so the children had a place to take off all their snow gear and a place to hang it up to dry. Even though the closet is mostly picked up, snow clothes are still laying on the floor in the hallway…..still working on some habits around here.

The last photo is of the office and as you can see it is more cluttered. Maybe by Monday I will have it looking better as it is a weekend project and I am writing this Friday night! Here’s to hoping anyways!

Top Secret Cleaning Techniques From Housekeepers

video platform
video management
video solutions
video player

In case you haven’t already heard, Reader’s Digest is coming out with 13 Top Secret Cleaning Techniques From Housekeepers and I actually learned a couple of new and interesting things. I will say that lemon juice and baking soda are good for tough stains on counters, toilets and sinks, but may leave a baking soda residue depending on how much you use – I haven’t quite got the portion thing down yet.

“Green” Your Travels With Dapple Baby Products!

Anyone who has children and who travels with them knows that with children comes mess. And when you travel with your kids they probably create messes. But, if you are a family who uses natural baby products then you probably have a hard time finding 100% natural baby products and natural cleaners.

I recently came across a company called Dapple that sells 100% natural baby products and natural cleaners. Their cleaners are perfect for when you are traveling with your kids.

We got a chance to try their travel wipes and travel dish soap and we took them with us on a trip that we took recently and we found that they where quite handy to have with us. Plus, they smelled wonderful and worked wonderfully.

Wherever you travel this summer with your family and kids we highly recommend that you check out signature
