More Free Kids Apps, Plus One For Your Cats!

**(When I downloaded these apps they were free, I cannot guarantee if they started charging a fee.) **

SKEE-BALL!!!  I love skee-ball.  We live near the east coast and head to the beach every year. After a day on the beach, we find an arcade and play skee-ball.  Now, we don’t have to wait for the summer.  Currently, it’s snowing and we are playing Skee-Ball in the house.

This app is only compatible for an iPad.  You gain points by playing skee-ball and then you get to pick out “prizes” to spend your tickets on.  This is a good one for the whole family.

SIMON’S CAT IN “PURRFECT PITCH” – If your not familiar with Simon’s Cat  Cartoons.  Simon’s Cat is drawn by Simon Tofield an English Animator, who can draw a cat’s temperament “purrfectly”.

This app is available for the itouch, iPhone and iPad.  With this one you play the piano, but when you hit the key the cat meows.  It’s really funny.  Funny Quick Story – My daughter and I were waiting in line to see Santa in December and I brought along my iTouch.  She started playing Simon’s Cat and the people around us started laughing.  All you heard was meowing.  (I guess you had to be there;-)).  There are options of “Free Play, Challenge, and Play Back”.  Lots of fun!

RIO THE MOVIE COLORING WITH BLU – Remember this movie?  We enjoyed it and downloaded it.

This app is available for iPad, iPhone and iTouch.

You color.  It’s that simple.  Choose one of two birds and the background.  The color pallet is at the bottom on the screen and your off and coloring!  When you done you can save it and email, post it to Facebook or print it!

OK!  Get your cats ready for a frenzy!  I got an email earlier this week from Friskies about an app for Cats.  I haven’t tried it on mine yet, they are currently sleeping (surprise, surprise).  Here it is!

It’s CAT FISHING 2 BY FRISKIES –

So, you start it up and let your cat go.  The fish start swimming around and your cat taps them and gets a score.  The more fish you cat taps the harder the game gets.  There are 3 levels and you can post their score to Facebook or the “World-Wide Leader Board”.

It’s again only available for iPhones, iTouch and iPads.

Let your kitties in on the fun too! :-)

Re-Organizing: Monday Motivation

Nearly six months ago we moved into this home. It is incredible that we have lived here that long already. One of the home’s appeals was the basement, 4+ bedrooms, 2.5 baths and an office. However, by the time we moved in, settled, had our internet working and phone working, it was nearly a month later. That is when we discovered that the internet and phone jacks in the office did not work! :-( A little disappointing to say the least. After lots of time on the phone, trying several areas of the house and getting tired of having my work in piles around the house, we talked about me taking over one of the kids bedrooms where the internet and phone connection were good. I decided on the older girls room, which meant moving the boys to another bedroom so the older girls could have their room. The girls were delighted at the prospect of getting a bigger room with a bigger closet. The boys on the other hand were not so thrilled initially, but after time to think about it and after their first night in their new room they seem to have accepted the change. Off to a good start.

Now I am re-organizing! It feels as though I have moved and I have, but you know that feeling of, “Oh there’s so much to do!” That’s the feeling I am experiencing today. Just slightly overwhelmed. It’s probably because I am tired too because I stayed up late burning photos and documents to CDs so I could delete them off my laptop and try to speed it up a bit to avoid screens freezing up on me. :-( So far it seems to be working. Just need to run a virus scan too. Fun techie stuff.

Here are a couple of before and after photos:

Old office, now linen closet and the new office:

So obviously, my Monday Motivation is to get things a bit more organized!

Picture Collage Maker Review & Giveaway!

CLOSED! Karen won!

Faith and Family Reviews received the following product in exchange for writing a review. While we consider it a privilege to receive free products to review, our reviews are our honest opinion and thoughts of the product.

What if you could make your own photo collages, cards, calendars, and scrapbook at home, without fighting with your computer.  Here’s your answer the “Picture Collage Maker” by Pearl Mountain Software.

I’m not the most savvy person when it comes to editing photos and making cards.  But, this software is very user friendly.  With this software you are able to print, create desktop wallpaper, and email.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, why not bring a collage or calendar for your host/hostess.  With this program they have 16 different Thanksgiving templates to choose from.  Here are a few.

After choosing a template, you click on photos.  It brings up your computer files and you can choose which photos to use.  Easily by dragging them into the photo and they “pop” in.  No more extra step by having to download pictures first on the Internet.  Then drag them.   Then having to wait for them in the mail.

Picture Collage Maker also have many other holiday and non holiday templates in addition to Thanksgiving.

I was experimenting with the program.  Here’s my Thanksgiving photo of my dog and cats!  (If you notice the template is the first one in the above group of pictures)

This is a wonderful and easy program to use. The hardest part was deciding which template to use!  I will be spreading the word to all my friends about this product.  Here’s their website to download your own Picture Collage Maker!  http://www.picturecollagesoftware.com .  I had lots of fun, I think you will too!

GIVEAWAY:

Photo Collage Maker wants to give 20 readers a gift code to make your own Photo Collage! We are trying something new and using Raffle Copter to host our giveaways, so let me know what you all think ok?

Apple Co-Founder Dies

We don’t own any Apple products, except our daughter’s ipod, but we would love to have a couple of their computers. As most of you may have heard, Apple’s co-founder, Steve Jobs, has died after battling with cancer.

In an article I read a writer compared Jobs to other business icons such as Rockafeller, Ford and Walmart and said this of Jobs, “Under Jobs, Apple simply created a bunch of really cool products that people decided they needed to have.” (Source: Yahoo Finance)

Will anyone be able to fill his shoes and continue to create “really cool products” or will they simply copycat? That remains to be seen, doesn’t it? Guess we need to seriously consider getting one of the cool products before they are obsolete, eh?

On a more serious note, Jobs was only 56 and left behind his wife and family. Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with them today.

Happy New Year!

Hope you all had a safe and blessed holiday season! You may have noticed that we have been rather silent around here…that’s because our whole family right down to baby has been sick with an awful cold/sore throat/cough etc. So we had many sleepless nights and were sleeping during the day!

Our laptop is not fixed and considering the fact that the computer guy had it for a month and tried his best to find a solution, unfortunately it is unlikely to be fixed. So we are still down to one computer for school and my business stuff. Let’s just say it’s been challenging to say the least. However, we are hoping and praying for a solution and are going to continue to try and stay on top of everything. However, if we happen to become lax, we would appreciate your continued patience.

A big project for the week is researching laptops and computers…again. If any of you have any suggestions or tips, I would appreciate them. We’ve been through this before, but this last time our refurbished DELL laptop (Studio) did not even last a year! Very disappointing to say the least. We had purchased a used DELL Inspiron in the fall of 2007, I think, and it lasted well over two years so I figured a DELL would be a safe way to go.

Our HP PC has been a good choice so far, but I’d really like a laptop since it is more portable. Yet another PC would be great for school work. From what I have heard, Macs are not suppose to crash or at least as often, but they are so expensive. At the price of Apple products I could get a PC and a laptop…then we would be set for work and school! Or at least better off. Sigh.

Gotta love technology! Can’t live with it and can’t live without it.

So that’s my Monday Motivation this week – Getting us back on schedule, techie stuff and computers….besides getting us healthy again.

Ughhh….WordPress

Ugghhh, it’s been a while since I looked at the home page and tonight (or this morning, as it is 1:30AM), I was working on something and happen to discover the blog all out of whack. I think I know what happened….a certain helper has been using Visual and not HTML mode while editing and working on posts. Ugggh….Wordpress. So
I apologize for our distorted look, but we will be working to return it to it’s normal state.

For those of you not familiar with the admin section of a WordPress blog, usually when we write our posts we use HTML (it’s a code with letters and gobbly gook symbols – how’s that for a technical explanation!) because the distorted look is not likely to occur as often. Working in Visual mode creates the distorted look when we cut and paste into a new post, add images there etc. And it is usually more difficult and more time consuming to fix, unfortunately.

This is not what I had planned for the weekend. Nor did I plan on having a bunch of sick children either. :-( So if you don’t see our regular posts, that will be why.

We thank you for your patience as we clean up our dust around here. We look forward to your visits and comments.

Take care and have a great weekend! I was hoping to finish up some work so I could take most of next week off to do family stuff, doesn’t look like that’is going to happen. Sigh. Be thankful, be thankful……(a children’s song that I cannot remember the rest of the words to except those…so very hard to keep a thankful heart when things continue to go wrong. Ahhhh yes, I am indeed human).

iTunes and Apps

I couldn’t find a deal for dad that I could share quickly while writing up these sales posts, so I thought I’d include the iTunes and App store, as there is something there for everyone and it has some great gift ideas. The free stuff is the greatest though, right?

Or you could get someone you love a gift certificate so they could do their own shopping:

Belly Armor Holiday Bundle

I bought Belly Armor’s new Belly Blanket – Chic after Sir Eats Alot was born and although it is not as soft as the Belly Blanket Luxe, it isn’t as hot to have over my lap. It does have a small hole in it already, which I think came from some moth infestation we had when we brought some boxes that were in storage into the house. Very disappointing, but so far it hasn’t become any bigger. I have used it for a blanket for baby as well, especially if I happen to be laying in bed nursing and working on my laptop, as I will make sure I cover him while I work. It has a little hood on the corner like a baby towel does. I like it, but I think I like the Belly Luxe better because it does have a softer feel to it.

Now they have yet another new product on the market. Read more below…

Belly Armor Launches “Belly Band” to Shield Cell Phone and Laptop Radiation

New maternity band utilizes technology to address health concerns from everyday radiation exposure.

NEW YORK, NY, November 22, 2010 – Belly Armor by RadiaShield has recently launched the newest product in their line of maternity clothing and accessories – The Belly Band. Utilizing a silver-fiber textile, Belly Armor products shield radiation from cell phones and other electronic devices with over 99% effectiveness. To address the growing concern over the health effects from this radiation, Belly Armor has adapted this technology into a wearable maternity band.

Maternity bands have, in recent years, become an essential item for expecting mothers to both provide support and prolong the use of pre-pregnancy clothing. The Belly Armor Belly Band aims to capitalize on this trend by providing a band with the added functionality of radiation shielding.

“There are a lot of women out there who will be purchasing a maternity band already, it’s an easy decision to choose the band that will also provide protection against the health risks from everyday radiation,” says Belly Armor CEO, Aileen Chen.

The technology behind The Belly Band is called RadiaShield Fabric. It is lighter than the cotton found in a t-shirt, machine washable, and soft to the touch. The fabric utilizes an effect known as a Faraday cage, which neutralizes incoming radiation in a way similar to a grounding wire neutralizing an electric current.

Health experts advise that pregnant women limit their exposure to this type of radiation, which comes from devices like cell phones, laptops, mp3 players, tablet computers, even baby monitors. Some countries and even parts of the US have begun passing legislation to reduce this type of radiation exposure. France has banned the sale and marketing of cell phones to children and San Francisco recently passed legislation requiring the labeling of cell phone radiation levels.

Belly Armor Belly Bands come in black, white, nude and hot pink and in four sizes. You can find Belly Armor Bands online at bellyarmor.com and at maternity stores across the US and Canada.

About Belly Armor by RadiaShield
