Diapers.com: Free Shipping Plus $10.00 Off!

Luvs-diapers-150x150
I usually use cloth diapers, but like to have some disposables on hand. We do tend to start with disposables after a new baby is born. I also try to plan ahead and start stocking up on them in advance. So I was very thankful to come across Alyssa’s post over at www.KingdomFirstMom.com where she shared that Diaper.com is having a great deal on diapers.

Buy 7 packages of Jumbo Luvs for $6.99, add a travel pack of Pampers wipes to help get your total to qualify for free shipping. Your total will come to $50.92, use promotional code KFM10 to receive $10.00 off, bringing your total down to $40.92. Then Alyssa has a link to a $14.97 rebate form, enabling you to get those 7 packages of diapers plus a travel pack of wipes for just $25.97! A pretty sweet deal, eh?

Alyssa said it only took her 5 minutes to complete all of the above, but I found it took me longer. I hit a couple of glitches while completing my order. Just be aware that the time will vary for each of us.

Please Note: Be sure to pay attention to the details on the rebate form as Alyssa recommends, and be aware that it is only applicable to first time customers at Diaper.com

L.L. Bean Boat and Tote

At Christmas time I purchased a couple of gifts for older members of our family from L.L. Bean, while the company was offering a $10.00 gift card for purchase over $25.00. They had a free shipping deal going on, too, which added to the savings. I ended up receiving two or three $10.00 gift cards because I purchased each of the gifts separately due to the free shipping. This enabled me to save money on a couple of my gifts too. I was going to use my last gift card for something for my husband but they really didn’t have any good deals going on for men. I ended up getting our family a Boat and Tote from L.L. Bean in the large size with brown trim.

L.L. Bean Boat Tote 001

The reusable mesh totes stores give away or sell cheaply really do not last. Canvas is much nicer, more sturdy and lasts longer. Furthermore,  it can withstand toting around a load of heavy books! That’s why I ended up purchasing the Boat and Tote. The totes were regularly $25.00, on sale for $18.99, plus I had my $10.00 gift card, making the tote $8.99. I did splurge to get it monogrammed with our last name because I don’t think we’ve ever had anything monogrammed before, plus I wanted it marked as our property in case we left it anywhere by accident. (By the way, they are still on sale! But the free shipping is only valid on orders over $75.00.)

L.L. Bean Boat Tote 002

It arrived yesterday and I love it! The large size is a very nice size bag to carry our massive supply of books that we always load up on when we go to the library! I can see using it as a diaper bag and carry-all bag too. The bag measures approximately 23.5″ wide by 15″ high. The base of the bag measures 7.25″ wide, but the top of the bag can expand to 23″ wide. Just in case you were interested! L.L. Bean has this listed for their measurements – Large 15″H x 17″W x 7½”D. Regular handles 8″. I think they did their width across the handles, whereas, I did my width side to side like the monogram.

L.L. Bean Boat Tote 003

I love the quality of L.L. Bean’s products. They make products that last and that are made right here in the USA, not that I am against items made elsewhere. I like buying locally and supporting globally as much as the next person. It’s just good to support our own businesses right here in the USA, too, during these economic hard times.

Cuisinart Waffle Maker Giveaway

Waffle_maker
Jonnie over at Mom of Boys with Toys is hosting a giveaway of a Cuisinart Waffle Maker – way too nice! I am in real need of a new waffle maker. I bought ours at a garage sale for $5.00 several years ago; the top and bottom plates slip out of place, the control button seems to be going…you get the picture. So you know that I have entered and I wanted to give you the heads-up to enter, too. Here’s the link to enter to win a Cuisinart Round Classic Waffle Maker in Brushed Stainless:

Preggers Trouser Socks

Two or three weeks ago I came across the website for Preggers and filled out their survey. For doing their survey I received a free test product – Trouser Socks. They came in a neat little box shown below.

100_2457

They are very comfortable! They stay up and do not sag down. They are light weight but still did a satisfactory job of keeping my feet warm in the house. Sorry, I haven’t worn them out of the house yet! However, I am very impressed. I like to wear knee socks during the winter, so these trouser socks were very comparable to what I usually wear. The thing is I haven’t bought trouser socks for a long time because the last pair I wore never stayed up on my legs.

100_2468

These trouser socks were made specifically with expectant moms in mind. It will be interesting to see how they feel later on in my pregnancy as my legs and feet start to swell. I will have to remember to give you all an update. The thing is I tend to go without socks in the summer months, but by June I should still be wearing them and will be in my last trimester. I’ll have to write myself a note to let you all know how the trouser socks feel then.

Preggers appears to be still accepting testers, so if you are interested, visit www.rupreggers.com

CareBox

The CareBox is the other gift that I won on Wishpot.com and since my mother-in-law is getting home from the hospital today, I thought that it would make a nice “Welcome Home” gift. She loves bath products and likes lavender, too. So this is perfect for her.

The box itself was very attractive and sturdy, as seen in the photo below:

CareBox1

It came with these three items inside:

Lavender Pillowcase
“A beauty treat you won’t sleep without! Enjoy a deep, peaceful sleep with the relaxing scent of lavender flowers. Sleeping on soft silk chameuse prevents wrinkles and reduces bedhead. Standard pillowcase. Remove sachets (of lavender) to wash in cold water. Crush flowers gently to release a fresh scent.”

A Lavender Bath Ice Cream (a bath soak)

Lavender Lullaby Candle handcrafted by Mill Valley

CareBox2

CareBox.com has a beautiful photo of the items inside:

This CareBox retails for $69.99. Wow! Just found that out. I probably saw the price when I entered and completely forgot.

You may find all of these products and more CareBoxes at
www.CareBox.com

I think my mother-in-law will be pleased.

Krochet Kids

I love the lost arts and I’d much rather pay a little bit more for something of quality than something that will wear out and we will have have to replace in a year. The thing is, it is getting harder and harder to find certain items that are high quality. I mentioned Krochet Kids in a post on our family blog. Since then I have purchased a couple of their hats for our family and can write a review of them.

I discovered that some of our older children had grown considerably in the past year, resulting in their outgrowing some of their winterwear. I was truly intrigued with Krochet Kids and their mission, so I took the step of faith and ordered two of them. It isn’t that I like paying $30 for a hat, but it’s the concept, the heart and the way a purchase like this gives back to someone in need. I mean true need because it supports the person who made the hat.

I have to say that I am quite impressed by the quality of the hats. Below you will find a couple of “models” wearing the two hats I bought, and yes, I realize that the one “Blondie” is wearing is too big for her, but doesn’t she look cute?

Krochet Kids1 Krochet Kids2

The other picture is one of our male “models” wearing a different style hat. The first one is called The Thomas. It is an acrylic/wool blend and is very thick and warm. These two hats come in a “one size fits most”. The unique thing is that each of the hats have a tag sewn inside with the name of the person who crocheted it. Margaret made the paprika colored 5207.5. Yes, The 5207.5 is the name of the hat. And the care of these hats involves hand washing, but seeing how they are very seasonal, we won’t be washing them very often.

Krochet Kids3

By the way, Krochet Kids made their goal of selling over 2000 hats for their December goal. You can read more about their achievement here. Or copy and paste this URL into your browser: http://www.krochetkids.org/home.php

Tea Cozy from Creations by Eileen

I won a free Tea Cozy from Creations by Eileen by entering a promotion they had on Wishpot.com at Christmas time. I actually won two things, which really surprised and delighted me. The other item I am giving away, so I will not be reviewing it. I may mention it in an editorial feature though since it was so nicely packaged!
004The Tea Cozy came in a nice gift box and a handwritten note. Such a nice personal touch. The Tea Cozy is a handmade crocheted item. It is very well made and fits on most tea cups as it does have some elasticity to it to stretch over a larger cup. I tried it on two different size cups and mugs that we have. I don’t think it was exactly meant to keep the tea warm for long because it doesn’t extend the temperature of the tea any longer than a normal cup of tea. However, it does protect your fingers from a piping hot cup of tea, which is pretty nice on saving your finger tips!

014 I think it would make a nice gift or giveaway prize.

I checked www.CreationsByEileen.com to see what she charges but it isn’t listed on her Etsy site, but I noticed that you can order custom items, so anyone interested in the Tea Cozy can try to contact her that way.

New Technical Problems

I don’t know how many of you have visited over the weekend since I haven’t checked my stats since last week, but when I cut and pasted a post or added a photo everything went out of whack. I had to take a break from fixing it because I was getting frustrated. Now, I just want everything back to normal.

WordPress is so touchy sometimes and this is a new theme I have never before worked with, so it is a learning curve as to what works and what doesn’t. Thanks for your patience as I work through another learning curve in the world of blogging!

Kikic Glam Bags

Glam Bags 001

I recently made a pretty frivilous purchase – at least for me. I have had my eye on and been wondering about Kikic’s Glam Bags – Luxe Reuseable Travel Bags for awhile and finally decided to splurge to see what they were like. They are an “upscale” zipper bag to carry personal products in while traveling. Definitely feminine and more attractive thant he brand name or off brand zipper bages, but very pricey. A box of 18 quart size bags retails ofr $9.95. Glam Bags are not quite as thick as the top name brand, however, nor are they thin, flimsy plastic either of the cheapest brands. So I’d probably classify it as middle of the road. They are definitely geared towards the fashion conscious female who frequently travels.

Glam Bags 002

I have to admit taht I have not had the opportunity to travel with them yet or wash them extensively, but considering that they are comparable to what we usually buy to protect our clothing from spilled personal care items, I am sure that they will hold up just as well as other brands.

If Glam Bags are just the thing you have been looking for, you may purchase them at www.kikic.com
