Pet Gift Ideas: Treats

FFR image for posts

We had the opportunity to review some pet treats not so long ago. Most of them were for our dog but we did get a little something for our cats too. We try hard to feed our animals healthy food and treats. We want them to live a long and healthy life and believe a healthy diet is a huge part in achieving this goal. If you have a pet on your Christmas list, Evanger’s has pet gift ideas to consider for the health of your pet. It is a new pet food brand to us, but here are some facts that we like about them:

Holiday and Kosher Pet Foods
Made in the USA
Over 40 certified Kosher meals for Dogs and Cats for Hannukah
Human-grade, USA-sourced ingredients
GMO-Free, No Preservatives
Even Grain Free

About Evanger’s

Dr. Fred Evanger began making pet food for his champion Great Danes in the 1930s. Almost 80 years later, Evanger’s continues to be the choice of top handlers, breeders, and enthusiasts. Our commitment to using the highest quality wholesome ingredients continues to make us the natural choice of conscientious pet owners.

Padfoot LOVED his treats, as you can see in the above photo! He really got into them. :)

Evanger’s Organics for Cats

We do not know about you but we usually share our holiday meals with our dog and cats. We have to get after the children for giving our pets our favorite pieces of meat! Evanger’s Organics for Cats has a healthy option of Turkey Butternut Squash Dinner, which your cat is sure to enjoy this Christmas or Hannukah season! I know ours did. I did not realize until after the fact that my photos of the cats eating did not turn out well so I do not have any photos of them gobbling down their treat. But I assure you they LOVED it!

Milos_USA_LOGO

You all have met Padfoot, our Newfie/Golden Retriever mix. Padfoot had the opportunity to try Milo’s Kitchen® Homestyle treats. These yummy treats came at a good time because Padfoot decided to get lose a couple of times and I decided that because he came right to the door of the house I’d give him treats to encourage him to keep coming to the door of the house if he ever gets lose or out of his dog run. If you could see the traffic we get on our rural road you’d know why I was encouraging this behavior.

About Milo’s Kitchen® Treats

Milo's Kitchen Treats

FFR Padfoot Trying Milo's Grilled Burger Bites

In the above photo Padfoot is trying Milo’s Grilled Burger Bites. They look exactly like they do on the package, just see the image below. My girls all exclaimed how good these treats smelled, especially the burger bites, good enough to eat they said. And I must say they did smell pretty good for dog treats!

We had Padfoot try Milo’s Chicken Grillers and tried to capture it on video…do you know how hard it is to contain a dog when he really wants a treat? He did well but after a couple of takes.

Lastly, Padfoot tried Milo’s Steak Grillers, which ironically resemble their packaging too. Sorry for the blurry photo! Padfoot displayed his eagerness pretty well in this photo!

Wellness for Pets #checkyourbag #naturaldogfood

This is a paid post.

Did you know….

  • Pet ownership in the U.S. has more than tripled from the 1970s, when approximately 67 million households had pets, to 2012, when there were 164 million owned pets.
  • According to a Packaged Facts survey, 83% of pet owners consider their pet to be a member of the family.

We love our dog. Padfoot always seems to have a “smile” for us. You know what I mean. Some dogs just genuinely seem to be happy all the time, that’s Padfoot. He truly does offer us unconditional love and is very eager to please us, especially now that he’s a bit older…he’s turned two last month!

We enjoy taking him for walks, playing with him and he loves to spend time with us. We also love rewarding him with dog treats. As you know, we feed Padfoot pretty much a natural diet. What about you, do you feed your dog a healthy, natural diet?

Wellness for Pets

Did you know that a diet formulated with wholesome, natural ingredients could help your dog live a longer, healthier life, but that most dog foods aren’t made up of natural ingredients?

Why are natural dog food diets so important anyway? “Natural products go far beyond just basic nutrition,” says Dr. Al Townshend, staff Veterinarian at Wellness® Pet Food. “Natural diets are designed to provide the very best nutrition and can have significant benefits.”

In fact, according to Dr. Townshend, “natural diets offer ingredients with some important health benefits such as probiotics, those good bacteria that are essential for a healthy immune system and digestive tract; glucosamine and chondroitin for joint health; omega-3 fatty acids or fish oils for heart and kidney health; and added digestive supplements to enhance digestibility to get the very best benefits from quality proteins and fats.”

Wellness Natural Pet Food for Dogs and Cats

As a leader in natural pet food, Wellness uses natural, high-quality proteins and fats in their dog food recipes. They also include fruits and vegetables for natural vitamins, minerals and other benefits, especially antioxidants that occur in blueberries, cranberries and some vegetables, which help make their dog food products some of the healthiest options in the marketplace.

Wellness recipes do not include added artificial colors, flavors or ingredients, and they’ve even created a helpful “Check Your Bag” website that you can use to compare their natural dog food to those from some competitors who claim to be natural.

Some of the biggest benefits to Wellness® Complete Health® Recipes include:

  • Live Active Probiotics – Added after the cooking process to promote a healthy intestinal tract and overall digestive health at guaranteed levels

  • Omega 3 & 6 Mix – Offering guaranteed levels of essential fatty acids for cellular function and healthy skin

  • Essential Vitamins & Minerals – Designed for cellular health, immunity and disease resistance

  • Fruit & Veggie Antioxidants – A proactive step in improving your pet’s nutrition

  • Rigorous Safety Testing – A Quality Assurance program that maintains strict standards for food safety

  • Excellent Nutritional Standards – Every batch of dry food is tested throughout the entire manufacturing process, from its basic ingredients to the finished products

While Wellness might not be as widely-known as some of the more mainstream brands of dog food, their devotion to quality and natural, high-quality ingredients makes their food safe, wholesome and beneficial to pets’ health and wellbeing.

To pick up a bag of some of this high-quality, natural dog food, you can order it online or stop by one of the retail locations listed in the Wellness Store Locator.

But be sure that you also connect with their Naturally Well Pet Community, a free online program that provides exclusive savings offers, fun contests and helpful tips about keeping your pets happy and healthy.

And consider following their Facebook page and Twitter feed, where you can join in on the fun with a huge group of fellow animal lovers who share heartfelt, funny stories, entertaining photos and videos of their pets.

If you’re at home as you read this, it’s a good bet that your dog is sitting right next to you, watching your every move. Take a quick moment to tell them about the importance of eating a natural diet, then watch the look on their face… we promise they’ll still love you!

You can visit Wellness Pet Food for a store near you.

SitStay.com Pet Treats for Valentine’s Day

FFR image for posts

Our Newfie/Golden Retriever mix dog, Padfoot, recently tried Shindig Valentine’s Day Treat Trio dog treats from SitStay.com. Valentine’s Day is a day to remember our pets with “sweet” treats too, right? And since dogs cannot have chocolate Love Licks, Heartbreakers and Love Birds are the next best thing…for a dog.

FFR Padfoot getting a treat 021814

Love Licks – 3″ jumbo patties made from USDA inspected bison tongue & heart. Nutrient-rich and tasty!

Heartbarkers – 100% USA raised beef heart. High in protein & coenzyme Q10 for good heart health.

Love Birds – Human-grade chicken & turkey breast fillets – raised & packaged right here in the USA! Perfectly combined poultry proteins.

All include ingredients are sourced right here from the USA.

shindigval__60723.1391445675.1280.1280

The ingredients in these dog treats are actually pretty good. I had photos of the ingredients to include but they are stuck on our DSLR camera. :(

Padfoot really likes these treats, then again he’s not a very picky eater. Sometimes he gets sick of certain things he has a lot, like chicken, eggs or bread if the children are tossing their leftovers to him! He definitely preferred these over his peanut butter that you see in the video. He usually loves licking out the peanut butter jar, not so much this time when a Valentine’s Day treat was available instead.

Be aware I was really loud at the beginning so have your volume turned down!

Padfoot gives Shindig Valentine’s Day Treat Trio dog treats from SitStay.com two thumbs up!
