About the book:

All Faith Harp wants is a quiet life—to take care of her troubled brother, Sam, earn enough money to stop the poverty wolves snapping at her heels, and to keep her past buried as deep as possible. And after years of upheaval, she might have just about managed it: Sam’s latest treatment seems to actually be working, Faith is holding down a job, and she’s engaged to the gorgeous and successful Perry.
But, for Faith, things never seem to stay simple for long. Her domineering mother-in-law-to-be is planning a nightmare wedding, including the wedding dress from hell. And the man who killed her mother is released from prison, sending her brother tumbling back into mental illness.
When secretly planning the wedding she really wants, Faith stumbles across a church choir that challenges far more than her ability to hold a tune. She ends up joining the choir, led by the fierce choir-mistress Hester, who is determined to do whatever it takes to turn the group of ragtag women into something spectacular. She also meets Dylan, the church’s vicar, who is different than any man she has ever met before…

A celebration of motherhood, creativity, and the faith that binds themIn our Pinterest age of handcrafted children’s parties, artistic Instagram photos, tutorials for renovating old furniture into new treasures, and blogs filled with poetry, prose, and other creative expression, it is clear that a brand-new generation of creative women is rising up. It is a renaissance born not in Italian cathedrals…

Our Review:

This is a must read for all modern mamas! This was a very inspiring read! I know I as a mom have out aside my creative talents and only honed them while assisting with a school project here or there…but this book inspires to dust off the old paint brushes and get creative…let God inspire and let your talents flow.

Book Review ~ He Knows Your Name

FFR image for posts

About the book:

When the evening news reported a dead baby abandoned in a local dumpster, Linda Znachko’s comfortable life changed. She was suddenly convicted—God was asking her to provide a dignified burial for this tiny lost child. Linda said yes. She had no idea where that first small yes would lead.Linda found herself in places she never dreamed she would be: at the graveside of the child of an abused mother; by the side of a mother fighting for her lost child; and at the funeral of a Texas stripper who died two days before her baptism but left a legacy of love behind. When Linda stepped out of her comfort zone and into these implausible places with people she was unlikely to otherwise encounter, she discovered the life she never knew she wanted—a life of saying yes to God whenever He asks.

Today, Linda has a ministry that gives children a name in life, and dignity and honor in death. When she shares her stories of broken lives redeemed, other broken people respond, and so the ripple effects of that long-ago yes continue to spread, touching lives that yearn for healing, and underscoring the fact that every life matters to God.

About the Book:

Emma and Matthew are finally free to marry, but Matthew’s secret continues to haunt them.

Emma D’Eresby can look forward to a future with Matthew Lynes. She at last reveals to Matthew the nature of her relationship with Guy Hilliard—her supervisor at Cambridge—and the reason she has found it difficult to forgive him or to trust any other.
Their joy at marrying is short-lived as, to her disgust, Emma discovers that Guy is visiting the United States to attend the history conference at which she is the keynote speaker. Although everyone seems charmed by him, Emma doesn’t trust Guy. Worse still, she discovers that Ellie is dating Guy, bringing him within the family fold.
Long-held grudges and wounds surface and it is clear that Guy poses a threat to everything Emma loves.

About the book:

Lois Rock and Alida Massari have teamed up to create a Bible storybook full of inspiration and delight, sure to elicit moments of contemplation. Thoughtfully written, each section begins with a Bible quote and ends with a prayer or psalm that fits the theme of the story to help readers reflect further on what they’ve read. Alida Massari’s richly colored and deeply peaceful illustrations fit perfectly.

Premama

This post was sponsored by Premama as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

Premama products are available at Meijer stores in the Vitamin Section. The Premama products are both prenatal and postnatal multivitamin supplement mixes for those who have trouble swallowing pills!

We loved this aspect of the product since pills can be difficult to swallow and simply adding a powder mix to a drink is much easier than a large pill.

The Premama products also conatian folic acid levels similar to many prescription prenatal vitamins, and equal, or greater than most OTC brands, Omega-3 fatty acids and non-consitpating iron often found only in prescription prenatal multivitamins.

Who are the Premama products geared for? They are designed to support women who are trying to conceive, expecting or lactating. They can be taken before, during and after pregnancy. This is very important as a product that can be used from pre-conception throughout the lactating years means we do not have to worry about switching brands and reinventing the wheel at different stages of motherhood. The Premama brand takes us there through the important years of mama and baby life.

Meijer Stores are running Premama promotions ~ be sure to check them out

    • August 15 – 28
      • Premama Lactation – Save $4
    • September 12 – 25
        • Premama Fertility – Save $4

    • Premama Essentials – Save $4
    • Premama Essentials + DHA – Save $5
    • Premama Lactation – Save $4
    • Premama Digestive Aid – Save $3

I went into my local Meijer store and headed straight to the baby department. And looked all over for the Premama products. For some reason i had it in my head they would be by the baby Aisle. Luckily I thought again and quickly turned around and headed for the vitamin Aisle! LOL! I found them quickly and the prices were reasonable. 20160827_132616 The product we tried was the Premama Essentials + DHA. This product is VERY similar to the prescription prenantal vitamins taken in the past. We loved that it includes DHA and boasts the fact that it “sooths morning sickness.” Below is a close-up of the product and ingredient list. 20160827_132739 20160827_132751

The Premama product we tried is very good it is a “natural citrus flavor” … it is not too strong, we mixed with water for a citrus flavor and were pleased! We are sure that the product can be added to a smoothie or other drink product, but we preferred plain water. You can find premama products at your local Meijer stores and other stores using the Premama Store locator at this link WHERE TO BUY PREMAMA

Book Review ~ Hearing God in Conversation

FFR image for posts

9780825444241

About the Book:

Christians are comfortable saying that Christianity is about a relationship with God. Yet many might also say that they sense little meaningful relationship with God in their own lives. After all, the foundation of good relationship is communication—but conversation with God often seems to go only one way. We may sing of walking and talking with God in the garden, His voice falling on our ears, but few have heard that beloved voice themselves.
Sam Williamson acknowledges the fundamental human longing to hear God’s voice and offers a hopeful supposition: God is always speaking—we’ve just never been taught how to recognize His voice. Williamson handles this potentially heady topic with his characteristic straightforwardness and leavening humor. This book deftly bridges the gap between solid biblical theology and practical application, addressing topics such as how to truly pray without ceasing, how to brainstorm with God, how to navigate our emotions, how to answer God’s questions, and how to hear God’s voice for others.
Hearing God in Conversation offers simple, step-by-step lessons on how to hear God. Williamson begins with Scripture meditation. He then expands the practice of listening for that voice everywhere—in the checkout line, on the job, in a movie theater, and even in silence. From there, he demonstrates how to hear God’s guidance when making any decision. By the end, readers’ eyes and ears will be opened to the limitless methods through which God speaks.

Book Review ~ The Power of Presence

FFR image for posts

9780857217318

About the Book:

A moving memoir that lays out a path to realizing the continual presence of God

Neil Anderson has traveled the world speaking and teaching, and has written many books. Always at his side, supporting him, has been his wife, Joanne, his partner for over fifty years.

Now Joanne is gripped in a long decline, sinking gradually into agitated dementia. She depends on Neil’s presence, even calling him Daddy. He has no training as a nurse, but now for long hours he sits at her bedside and cares for her every need. They do not speak much; conversation is a strain. So Neil has used the silent hours to pray, to spend time in God’s presence, and to reflect on what this means.

“I have become keenly aware that God is using Joanne’s illness to teach me about the power of presence. I’m learning on a much deeper level the purpose of just being there, and what it means to be still and know that He is God. There is an inexplicable peace that comes from knowing I don’t have to ‘do’ in order to ‘be’ in God’s will–to be in His presence–to be in each other’s presence.

“It has been a peaceful time of reflection upon the presence of God, and how that has shaped me, our marriage, and ministry. My theology tells me that God is omnipresent, but we are not always aware of His presence, and yet without His presence we are not fully alive.”

Our Review:

This is a powerful read. This is something that will keep you thinking long after you have read through the pages of the text. Anderson’s words and experience are challenging to the mind and spirit. This is something you will want to read and ponder.

Kia Optima LX Turbo

FFR image for posts

Last week I had the pleasure of test driving a Kia Optima LX Turbo.  That sure was a treat!  I’m so used to driving around a minivan, having the opportunity to drive a car was so much fun.

IMG_4862

First of all, the car was gorgeous.  Really nice looking on the outside and the inside was not only easy on the eyes, but super comfortable.  I felt like I was driving a luxury vehicle.  The Kia Optima had great pick up.  I definitely sped a little too often without even realizing it.  Of course my favorite feature on the car, as is with most KIAs, was the back up camera.  It sure makes life a whole lot easier when I can simply look on the screen and see almost all of my blind spots.  I also really love how the car beeps at me when someone is getting too close to me, or I’m getting too close to a ditch.  What a great feature!

IMG_4863

The KIA Optima gets 32 MPG, which in my eyes is amazing!  It’s very fuel efficient and has a lot of great safety features including dual front airbags, front seat mounted side airbags, driver’s knee airbag, traction control system, and the tire pressure monitoring system.  One thing that really surprised me about this vehicle was how absolutely huge the trunk space was.  Both my mother-in-law and I went grocery shopping and bought over two carts full of stuff.  I thought for sure we would have to put some bags in the back seat.  I was shocked they all fit with room for more bags!

I highly recommend the KIA Optima LX Turbo to men and women of all ages and all walks of life.  It really is a great vehicle!
