Health And Garden Tuesday: Top 12 Cosmetic Companies Are Actually Harmful

Here is a list of 12 cosmetic companies that are actually harmful. These may be popular, but they are actually very harmful to your body.

Here is a list of the top 12 cosmetic companies:

1. Maybelline *
2. Mary Kay *
3. Estee Lauder *
4. Lancome
5. Clinique
6. L’Oreal
7. Chanel
8. Max Factor
9. Cover Girl *
10. Neutrogena
11. Revlon
12. Avon *

And here is our list of how harmful they are:

12- Mary Kay- Mary Kay is the lowest of all the cosmetic companies that are harmful. Only a 7. But that’s still pretty hazardous. (see here)

11- Maybelline-Maybelline’s products aren’t that pretty either. Their product that contains the most toxins reaches a 8 on the “scale”. (see here)

10- Lancome- Some of Lancome’s products also reach a rating of 8. (see here)

9- Chanel- Chanel also reaches a bad rating for quite a few of their products. They get a 8. (see here)

8- Clinique- It seems 8 is a popular number as Clinique also reaches a 8 on the scale.(see here)

7- Max Factor- Most of Max Factors products are either a 7 or a 8 on Cosmetic Database. (see here)

6- Neutrogena- Neutrogena’s products aren’t good for your body as they reach a 9 on Cosmetic Database. (see here)

5- ESTÉE LAUDER- ESTÉE LAUDER also has some 0 rated products but, they also have some pretty nasty ratings as well on Cosmetic Database. Including some 9’s.(see here)

4- Avon- Avon has some products that are ranked as a 0 on Cosmetic Database. But if you got to the second page you’ll see plenty of 7’s, 8’s, and 9’s. So I’ll have to watch what I buy from them! (see here)

3- Cover Girl- This may be a shocker but Cover Girl is a 9 as well. Some of their products are a okay rating but we found ALOT of their products are either a 7,8, or 9. (see here)

2- Loreal- Loreal also has plenty of products with a toxic rating of 6,7,8,9, and 10! (see here)

1- Revlon- And the big the most toxic cosmetic company on our list is….. REVLON! Yep, although this comapny has SOME non-toxic products. 500 + of their products are either a 6,7,8,9, or 10! (see here)

Happy Tuesday!

UPSIDE ~ A DVD Movie Review

About Uside

The DVD UPSIDE was a great film. Basically, it reminds us that no matter what life throws at you there is always an “upside”! The premise of the movie revolves around a High School senior, Solomon White who seems to have everything…but when he suffers a head injury that distorts his vision he is left looking at the world in a different light. The movie showcases the challenges that Solomon faces at home and school. During the course of the film Solomon begins to fall for Wren, a young girl who has been blind since birth. This is an inspiring movie about faith and perseverance.

One of the things I enjoyed was going to the website after the movie and perusing around. I found that www.upsidemovie.com has a study guide available to accompany the movie. They have taken 2 scenes from the movie and have planned lessons to use in accompaniment with the movie. Study Guide 1 talks about how God gives us a fresh start and Study Guide 2 talks about how God measures success. Each study guide is complete with a Leader Guide, student guide and a video clip. As a Sunday school teacher I found these quite useful!

Movie Review Monday- Bringing Up Bobby

Faith and Family Reviews received the following product in exchange for writing a review. While we consider it a privilege to receive free products to review, our reviews are our honest opinion and thoughts of the product.

Our family really enjoyed Bringing Up Bobby. It is the type of movie to watch when you just want to laugh. It was silly in places, but it tickled our funny bones. I got just as much fun out of watching my family laugh as I did the movie. The trailers for Bringing Up Bobby make it look more silly than it really is. It’s a nice movie with a realistic plot about the realities of family life, where family members are sinners and don’t always get along. It’s about a family who loves each other deeply but get side tracked by the will of their parents. It is also about what real friendship is all about – sticking with a friend through the thick and ugly days, as well as the upbeat good days.

Another important aspect of Bringing Up Bobby, is Bobby himself who is a teenager on the path of discovering who he is and what he believes.

Monday Motivation

Sorry I missed last week’s Monday Motivation, but things really haven’t changed much. We had a busy week working on blog stuff, giveaways, writing reviews, besides getting ready for Thanksgiving. Plus this week I am back to work full throttle with my client I took some time off from (but still worked 4-8 hours/week so it really wasn’t a vacation. It was a semi vacation.)

Monday Motivation two weeks ago:

~ Cleaning and purging. Cleaning Walls and hoping to start painting! But I fully realize that my aspirations are much greater than I could ever humanly accomplish with this large family of mine. So by God’s grace, I will get done what I am meant to get done. Some of the walls got cleaned….and got dirtied again…as far as we’ve got. I received a Merry Maids gift card in the mail that I fully intend to use in December! Thanks to the Munchkins, Inc. (I cannot even remember what I did, but I did something in the blogging world and forgot about this little stipend of a Merry Maids gift card. What a wonderful surprise to find that envelope in the mail! I have never had a cleaning company come in and clean my home so this will be a new experience. I feel like I have to clean in order for them to clean! Bizzare, I know. Anyone ever use a cleaning service before?

~ I start a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) course this week and have a few meetings away from home. Thankfully, my husband’s work schedule is flexible that he is able to be with the children while I am gone. This went really well. Sir Eats Alot did great at my four hour meeting and again in the evening during my class. The class is going to be very beneficial, I think. Looking forward to the next 8 or 9 classes spread out over the next few months.

~ Finish up our business plan finally and finally submit it. This is my weekdend project.

~ Get to the Thrift Store. Nope, didn’t get there. Too many things at home to keep us busy.

~ 77Kids holiday charity event! Looking forward to that! Thanks to The Motherhood and 77Kids. As you already know, we enjoyed this outing very much.

Hope you all are staying motivated as we head into winter. I’d love to hear some of your ideas for staying on top of things and keeping your motivation running so you remain an effective mommy/parent/friend/sister/daughter etc.

This week’s Motivation:

~ Ongoing: Cleaning and purging. Cleaning Walls and hoping to start painting! But I fully realize that my aspirations are much greater than I could ever humanly accomplish with this large family of mine. So by God’s grace, I will get done what I am meant to get done.

~ Finish up our business plan finally and finally submit it. I really mean it this time. My laptop crashed this week so I even paid to have my hard drive ripped so I could finish it this past weekend. My goal is November 30th at the latest.

~ Get to the Thrift Store and YMCA.

~ Play Christmas music every day and watch at least one classic Christmas movie.

~ Hopefully get my laptop back in one piece saving on the expense of purchasing another one. If we do have to purchase another one, we are going to get a Mac (Apple MacIntosh). We’ve heard how little they crash.

Bringing up Bobby ~ A DVD Movie Review

Bringing Up Bobby was a very entertaining movie. The movie revolves around the Wyler family and their ups and downs of family life. The head of the Wyler is James (big brother and surrogate parent) who trusts in God for help in raising his three siblings. There are some great events within the film, including Bobby’s 16th birthday, which make the film enjoyable. I enjoyed that the filmmakers were able to present the Gospel in such a way to make it enjoyable and believable, while using real life circumstances. The movie has a solid theme and is cute for the whole family!

***Closed***12 Days of Christmas Giveaways – Day 6- Lemon Pepper Panko Review & Giveaway

Congratulations to Karen! You won this giveaway! (and no we aren’t rigging this Random.org really likes Karen! The secret is to tweet, tweet, tweet!)

Thanks to General Mills for providing me with information and for providing product for review and giveaway through MyBlogSpark. Faith and Family Reviews received the following product in exchange for writing a review. While we consider it a privilege to receive free products to review, our reviews are our honest opinion and thoughts of the product.

Sorry, yesterday we were busy Christmas tree hunting, cutting and decorating that I did not get to post our seventh day of Christmas Giveaways in time. So we’ll feature 6 and 7 today.

On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to YOU! Lemon Pepper Panko & a Cookbook by Chef Chiarello!

The chef’s secret is out – panko is in! A longtime secret of Japanese cuisine, panko is now a pantry staple for creating perfect crispiness in any dish. This past October, Lemon Pepper joined the ranks of Progresso’s line of panko bread crumbs, which includes Original and Italian flavors.

Whether frying, baking or broiling, this culinary superstar adds a flavorful crunch to create simple, savory recipes. Made from the soft, tender centers of the bread, Progresso Lemon Pepper Panko combines the perfect crunch with effortless flavor to give any dish that extra punch. The large, flaky crumb has a coarser texture than traditional bread crumbs, delivering a lighter, crunchier coating or topping.

My Review:

I was sent Lemon Pepper Panko breadcrumbs and an autographed copy of chef Chiarello’s new cookbook: Michael Chiarello’s Bottega.

I thought that the cookbook was very well written, and I liked that it included a lot of wonderful Italian recipes.

Our family really liked the Lemon Pepper Panko breadcrumbs. We used ours to make breaded chicken and we liked how easy it was to use these bread crumbs. We also loved the taste! Yummy! They were a little hot on the tender tongues of the little ones, but the rest of us loved them. Everyone wanted seconds. Even my husband who tends to be skeptical about new foods loved the Lemon Pepper Panko bread crumbs! The bread crumbs were so tasty that we didn’t have any leftover chicken! Boo hoo, as we tend to like leftovers around here so we don’t have to cook again! Thankfully everyone’s tummy was satisfied.
