***Closed***12 Days of Christmas Giveaways – Day 12- Win an Umbrella From Kidorable!

Congratulations to Karen! You won this giveaway! Thanks to all who entered and to the wonderful sponsor! Winner chosen by random.org

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to YOU! An umbrella from Kidorable!

Our Review:

Kidorable sells children’s rainwear and we received a frog rain coat and rain boots. Since it is winter here in Chicago we have not properly tested this product for wear having only received it today on the last day of our 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways. However, we can say that the products appear to be well made. They are as cute as their website shows and the sizes run normal for the average sized child. We chose a size 3T for our almost three year old and as you can see from the photo below it fits him great, just a little long in the arms. I tried to get his boots a little big so they would fit him in the spring and I think the will be fine. We got him a size 8, as he’s in a size 7 now.

Froggy Rain Boots

Froggy Rain Coat is made of PVC (lead free) with a polyester lining and come with a cute little froggy hanger too, which my son has dubbed “My froggy hanger”. 🙂

This is the last day to win a prize so be sure to enter all our other giveaways before they start to close!

With over 20+ umbrellas to choose from the winner will sure have a hard time to pick from them.

These adorable umbrellas are:

The Mysterious Islands DVD Review

Faith and Family Reviews received the following product from Tyndale House Publishers in exchange for writing a review. While we consider it a privilege to receive free products to review, our reviews are our honest opinion and thoughts of the product.

The Mysterious IslandsDVD was released from Provident Films on 8/31/2010 and we were privileged to receive a copy to review. This is a documentary film about the Galapagos Islands.

Doug Phillips and his research team, which included Dr. John Morris of the Institute for Creation Research, visited the islands in 2009, which marked the 200th year since Darwin was born. Darwin also visited the islands in 1835. This research team sought “to determine whether the Galapagos Islands are a laboratory for evolution, as Darwinists claim, or a showcase for the biblical account of creation.”

The movie showed beautiful footage of the islands and the creatures who live on them. From views of the depths of the sea to the gigantic turtle, our family enjoyed learning about the Galapogos and hearing the insights shared by16 year old Joshua Phillips, the team scientists and those along to observe.

Whether you follow the thoughts of Darwin or Creation this is a movie is a valuable educational tool for your family.

Heart of Haiti

Disclosure: I am writing this post to spread the word about Heart of Haiti through a Mom Bloggers Club member program and I will receive a Heart of Haiti pendant as a thank you.

I love the giving back aspect that brings businesses and charities together. Since I began working with companies that are making the difference in the lives of artisans in different countries, projects like Heart of Haiti always interest me.

Did you know that through the sale of Heart of Haiti products, artisans are able to earn life-changing income for themselves, their families, and their communities? The initiative is enabling artisans to repair homes, pay school fees, and feed and clothe their families. The income also allows them to have access to better nutrition, improved education and healthcare. Otherwise they would not even be able to afford these advantages that most of us here in the US have access to.

The Heart of Haiti collection has already led to employment of 350 artists in Haiti and has provided some financial benefits for an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 people in the country. Isn’t that wonderful? I think so and hope they continue to assist even more people in the months and years to come.

First Things First by Kurt & Brenda Warner

Faith and Family Reviews received the following product from Tyndale House Publishers in exchange for writing a review. While we consider it a privilege to receive free products to review, our reviews are our honest opinion and thoughts of the product.

You know, it’s sad to admit but I don’t think I have ever heard of Kurt Warner (if you don’t know either, he’s a quarterback for the Phoenix Cardinals) until I was browsing through the Tyndale House website. Then again, I am not much of a football fan so how would I know him? What attracted my eye about this book was the fact that he and his wife, Brenda, have seven children. I am always interested in large families, especially Christian families. I enjoy learning about their family, how they do things and look forward to what I can glean from them.

The Warners appear to be a pretty normal family, considering Kurt is a celebrity and all. As a couple, they know what it is like to struggle financially and do their best not to take their current income for granted. They are all about their faith, their marriage, their family and others – in that order.

I love how their oldest son has been such a source of inspiration for so many of their ministry opportunities. I enjoyed how frank and openly they shared their lives with those of us who would read their book.

Kurt and Brenda really seem to have some great ideas about parenting. It is evident how much they love each other and their kids. Something they do that we do, but we didn’t even think to take it as far as they have is when their children are fighting they have to hold hands. We do that too, but we require our children to sing Barney’s “I love you” song (You all remember Barney the dinosaur and his opening song, don’t you? Thought so. ;-)). However, the Warners require them to hold hands and if they still don’t get along to go cheek to cheek, and if they still don’t get along lips to lips! 🙂 Loved that! The thing is our children are usually playing by the time they are done the “I love you” song because they have to give each other the hug and a kiss the song talks about, “with a great big hug and a kiss from me to you, won’t you say you love me too!” So I guess in a way we are requiring a pretty similar thing to the Warners. It’s nice to hear of others implementing similar things that we do. Gives us hope for some reason.

And that is one of the Warners desires in sharing their thoughts in First Things First, that we might be encouraged and perhaps take something about their family and be able to implement it or change it to suit our own family.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning more about the Warners life. They do get pretty candid, but nothing that offended me and I’ll let our older girls read it too.

Carmex Healing Lotion Review

Faith and Family Reviews received the following product in exchange for writing a review. While we consider it a privilege to receive free products to review, our reviews are our honest opinion and thoughts of the product.

product image

I was very excited about trying this product because I LOVE Carmex lip salve. However, I was NOT expecting the hand cream to smell like the lip salve. The product boasts a “pleasant” scent. The scent is only pleasant if you like the “Carmex” smell. Needless to say I only tried this once and did find it lived up to its non-greasy raves. I ended up giving the product to my husband to use for a few weeks because he did not mind the smell, in fact he rather liked the scent. He noted that the cream was one of the better feeling creams he has used (he is a hand cream addict) and will continue to use this brand in the future!

***Closed***12 Days of Christmas Giveaways – Day 9 – EZ Sox

Congratulations to Shannon! You won this giveaway! Thanks to all who entered and to the wonderful sponsors! Winner chosen by random.org

On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to YOU! A pair of EZ Sox from EZ Sox!

EZ Sox (as seen below) are a wonderful gift idea for baby showers, for parents with toddlers, and a great stocking stuffer for toddlers and young kids. For parents of special needs children, EZ Sox addresses a daily need and offers these children self-sufficiency and empowerment.

Created by parents who tired of seeing their young son struggle dressing himself, Eileen and Ronnie Gesser designed socks with pull-up loops on both sides of each sock, and fun graphics on the tops of the socks. In no time, their son was no longer frustrated and proudly dressing himself. Today this fun and easy teaching tool for teaching kids self-sufficiency is the only one of its kind.

EZ Sox are available to you at their online retail website at http://www.ezsox.com. EZ Sox are also sold in 30 boutique stores throughout North America and one US Chain Store with 36 retail outlets. A Japanese distributor has EZ Sox in more than 70 retail stores in Japan.

My Review:

We really, really liked the frog EZ Sox that we where sent to review. My son’s face lit up when he saw them and he had no problem at all putting them on. He was able to put them on by himself on the first try. We think that they are a great product and love them! We have yet to wash them to see how well they wash up, but we’ll be sure to let you know how they wash up.
