Camera Woes

I have had some camera woes lately. My boys, with good intentions of course, knocked out a lense. Thankfully it was fixable. Then during our move we somehow lost our camera cord that allows us to download photos to our computer. We still have yet to find it. That means this blog is sadly missing some personal photos of recent weeks. That is the extent of my camera woes. Pray that I find that cord soon and then I can finally update you all on our family happenings!

Rally for Recess + Dannon Danimals Smoothies Review

In the past twenty years schools nationwide have cut back on recess time. But, this can impede  your children’s physical development. Children have lost an average of 8 hours of recess a week and some schools no longer provide play time for students. Scary eh?

The loss of recess is a national crisis leading to childhood obesity. Because of this public health agencies recommend children engage in at least 60 minutes of play each day.

To help rally moms and kids around this cause, Dannon® Danimals®, the delicious and nutritious kids snacks that include on-the go smoothies and low fat yogurts with calcium, is launching a national initiative called “Rally for Recess”.

“Rally for Recess” is designed to create healthy competition, pitting school against school! Five schools have the opportunity to win new playground equipment and an all-day recess celebration. Danimals is committed to childhood health and wellness, which starts with good nutrition and an active lifestyle. Through February 8, 2012 purchasers can find codes on Danimals packaging (or free by mail) to enter and register their school online. The top school in each of five categories with the most codes registered wins!

For more information visit: RallyforRecess.com

Dannon has added smoothies to their line.  The Smoothies available in Banana Split, Cherry Berry Blast, Rockin’ Raspberry, Strawberry Explosion, Strikin’ Strawberry-Kiwi, and Swingin’ Strawberry-Banana. They contain no:

*  No artifical colors or flavors

*  No high fructose corn syrup

*  Good source of calcium

*  Vitamin D

Sounds good to me.  How about you?

My Review:

These are perfect for little hands and my daughter loves them.  We received Strikin’ Strawberry-Kiwi.  Sometimes regular yogurt cups are too big for her to finish, these smoothies are fulfilling for my daughter without wasting any.  They are already on my shopping list!

Totino’s Pizza Stuffers Review

In addition to their pizza and rolls, Totino’s introduced Stuffers.  They are bigger than the rolls and smaller than the pizzas.

Here’s Totino’s History:

“Since 1951, when Rose and Jim Totino baked their first pizza, we’ve been all about serving up quick and fun deliciousness.  And now?  A company that began as a family pizza parlor in St. Paul, Minnesota, now serves 300 million Crisp Crust Party Pizzas every year.  Together with tasty, bite size pizza rolls snacks, they are the best selling hot snack and frozen pizza in America today.”  (Information taken from www.totinos.com)

Totino’s Stuffers come in 3 flavors, cheese, pepperoni, & combination (pepperoni & sausage).  Each package contains 4 Stuffers.

My Review:

My household LOVES Totino’s Pizza Rolls so, we were very excited about trying Totino’s Stuffers.  We received 2 boxes, Cheese and Pepperoni.  While they are still very good, the edges where they are pressed close get a little doughy.  Since most of the pizza makings are in the middle.  With that said, these are great for lunches or snacks for my family, we will keeping a box or two in the house.

NEW! Health and Garden Tuesday Post

I just wanted to share a little testimony for this week’s post on Health and Garden Tuesday. Over the weekend I went with a friend to give a Raindrop to a client who won a free Raindrop with a qualifying order at one of my friend’s meetings. I was acting as her assistant and had to ring out two towels with hot water. The only thing is I made the water too hot and burned my thumb so much so that it started smarting and blistering right away. I was not able to put anything on it until Sunday morning and when I did I applied two Young Living essential oils: Purification and Lavender. The blistering is basically gone and what remains does not even hurt. I have never used an essential oil on a burn before and am very glad that I did since the pain of the burn is not as long lasting as it usually is. My burn really benefited from using Young Living essential oils.

A Long Lost Motivation Monday Post

Yes, this summer I have been pretty much absent from this blog. It has been an incredibly busy summer with working two and three days away from home and then our move a month ago. Whew, we still have not quite recovered from our move yet as there is still so much more we have to do at our townhouse, including moving stuff over. Then there is the added work here at our new home with so much more lawn care and planning for next year!

This week’s motivation, at least for today, was just to clean and relax. Relaxing was actually accomplished, while cleaning was not. We went on an outing as a family and for the most part just relaxed.

On the docket for the rest of the week is cleaning, working at Mrs. A’s farm three days and a bit of work on my own business.

Later this week I hope to introduce you to a new addition to our family….nope, I am not expecting! But he has brought a lot of fun and enjoyment to most of us. So stay tuned!

ROCKY ROAD

Charming, sensible and refined are the words most used when describing a Rocky Road. Like an old soul they remain grounded through life and usually find themselves sharing their wisdom with the other flavors. Rich with depth they tend to gravitate to the finer things in life. Intelligent and adaptable to every situation and person. Rocky Road’s never lack for friends or admires.”

S’MORES

“Outdoor enthusiasts at their core, S’mores are most content when they are actively exploring nature with friends and family. S’mores can really take the heat and work extremely well under pressure. Despite their hard exterior, they are almost always soft and gooey on the inside making them great life long companions to most any flavor.”

HONEY GRAHAM

“With the perfect combination of innocents and wholesome sweetness, Honey Graham’s are known for their friendly dispositions and random acts of kindness. If you need advice or a listening ear, Honey Graham’s are the ones to ask. They are masters of communication and tend to be not only responsible but also extremely resourceful by nature. They like to leave their mark on everyone they meet and this is easy for Honey Graham’s to accomplish due to their sticky personalities.”

NUTTY MARSHMALLOW

“Exocentric and lively, Nutty Marshmallow’s have the tendency to be impulsive risk takers often making them the life of the party. This wild child rebel has a clever wit is not afraid to speak their mind. With boundless energy, Nutty Marshmallow’s usually have a never-ending hunger for adventure and new experiences. More so than another flavor, Nutty Marshmallow’s are young at heart and have an unyielding passion for life.”

My Review:

Food does not last long in my house.  That goes double for these Halo Bars!  My whole family loves them.  They are a great & healthly on the go snack.  Our family favorite was S’Mores!

The Colonel’s Lady – A Revell Blog Tour

This summer I have not had much time for reading other than what I can do online, so it was a treat to participate in Revell’s Blog Tour of The Colonel’s Lady, even though I read the book quickly, I forgot to post my review! (The admission of a very worn out mama, who is juggling many balls right now…)

The Colonel’s Lady is a historical romance written by Laura Franz. It is set during the 1700’s on the Kentucky Frontier. Franz writes from a little different perspective than what most might consider normal in a “Christian” historical romance book.

I liked the perspective that she presented even though it meant revisiting some sad memories from my childhood. As much as alcohol is a part of our culture and society, I will never, ever consider it a part of my life. Thankfully, my husband is of the same mind.

Too many hurting people turn to alcohol to help them through hard times and this is the spin that Franz shares in The Colonel’s Lady. The soldiers during that time were dealing with many difficult situations, especially the higher ranking officers, therefore, some would turn to “the drink.”

Franz also delved where most Christian writers might dance around and that is the loneliness the soldiers experienced; and just how that loneliness was curbed – with loose women (or what would have been considered loose back then).

Let’s just say that when I read about the hardships of others, even those in a fictional work, it strikes a cord within me and makes me grateful that God spared me from such a life.

I really liked this book. It was entertaining and tickled all the right emotions, as a good book should. I liked the suspense, I liked the surprise element of discovering who was leaking information to the opposition.

Overall, I recommend this book. Great reading for this fall and winter!

Available August 2011 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.
