Drop Your Pants for Underwareness Movement

Thank you to Depend for sponsoring today’s discussion.

Underwareness Bladder Leakage

Drop Your Pants for Underwareness Movement

I am not quite ready to drop my pants (and yes, some people are literally dropping their pants for this campaign!!) for Underwareness, but I do want to share the reality that over 65 million Americans experience bladder leakage. That is a pretty high number, isn’t it? And I am one of those 65 million. Maybe I didn’t do enough kegels during pregnancy or after I had my babies? Maybe I inherited weak bladder muscles? Whatever the cause, it affects me each and every day. I can no longer be as physically active as I once was without the aid of bladder leakage protection. I can no longer laugh, sneeze or cough without suffering from the offensive “bl”. Very dear people in my life joke about “needing a panty liner” when we get together, but the truth is, I need something more than a panty liner most days or I may find my pants wet!

So to help support Underwareness and bring the condition and Depend Underwear out of the wall of shame, Depend has created a new social movement and charitable cause called Underwareness. You, too, can share your story. You will be helping Underwareness, supporting the millions of Americans with bladder leakage and helping to break down the stigma of the condition and Depend Underwear. Depend offers discreet products that are thin, not a bulky diaper, which are a much more comfortable option for those suffering from this often viewed “shameful” condition. Thus, helping people regain their freedom and get their lives back. If you are wondering what to wear for bladder leakage, Depend products include:

Depend products

For Women:
– Depend® Silhouette® Briefs for Women
– Depend® for Women Underwear with FIT-FLEX™ Protection

For Men:
– Depend® Real Fit® Briefs for Men
– Depend® for Men Underwear With FIT-FLEX™ Protection

Underwareness Campaign

Depend will donate $1, up to $3 million, over the next three years to charities that advance the research, education and awareness of bladder leakage for: Every pant drop, photo and video shared. Use hashtags #Underwareness and #DropYourPants in your social sharing.

Washing Babydoll Sheep Wool – Wordless Wednesday

Our Babydoll ram has been losing some of his fleece. Our oldest son decided to collect it and wash it.

Steps to follow when washing Babydoll sheep wool:

1. Filled the sink with hot, hot water. He said he got it up to 180′ F.

2. Then stir wool around.

3. Put a tiny bit of dish soap or laundry detergent in the water. Keep stirring. Not too hard.

4. Change the water. Repeat the process.

5. Lay out to dry on top of dryer.

Here is what it looked like:

Kind of disgusting, isn’t it?

January is Organizational Month

FFR January is Organizational MonthYou may or may not recall January is Organizational Month. I have been trying for three plus years to get organized and it never fails something keeps coming up to hinder the process.

I admit I cannot seem to get our home organized the way I would like it. It is like I have a brain film over my organizational skills I used to possess. Perhaps 2015 will be my year…finally.

We are in the throes of de-junking now. We gave away several bags to charity last week and will have more to give away at the end of them month.

What do you need to organize? Do you have any tips to help the organizationally challenged?

Falls at Victoria Park Nova Scotia – Wordless Wednesday

We traveled to my native province Nova, Scotia, Canada for a month in November/December 2014. It has been nearly ten years since we have been back “home”. We had an awesome visit. It was sooo good to reconnect with my sisters and have them meet our three younger children. It was wonderful to see my family bond with my children and visa versa.

Falls at Victoria Park_2_

Two of my three sisters each took us hiking. C took us to Victoria Park. Victoria Park has walking trails up a mountain, stairs to offer a more challenging hike, falls, picturesque views, a playground and pool (open only in the summer). Our older children had been there on our last visit in 2005, but our younger children had never been. This is a photo of most of the children overlooking the falls at Victoria Park Nova Scotia. Our oldest son stayed home with hubby to take care of the animals.

Nova Scotia received an inordinate amount of rain while we were home, especially my hometown. Farm fields were flooding, the rivers were high, lawns were saturated and as you can see, the falls at Victoria Park were roaring. Can you believe we were without jackets almost in the middle of December?! We have never been hiking in December, let alone hiking twice in the span of a week and a half!

#39 Saturday Top Five Laughs

Saturdays Top Laughs dentistmelsbbutton-11

It’s been a long time since I have last posted a Saturday Top Five Laughs post. Our last minute trip to Nova Scotia kind of threw me off. Without further adieu let’s join The Mommyhood Chronicles for Saturday Top Five Laughs – week #39 (for us)!

5. Someone older in our family tried to eat a cheese stick with plastic on!!

4. While we were traveling to Canada, our youngest had a melt down. So we called my husband, who talked to him for five to ten minutes. There was complete silence on my youngest’s end, until we realized he’d fallen asleep!

3. My son passed gas on me and when he couldn’t do it again, said he wasted all his farts earlier.

2. Several of our children kept mixing up the names of family members and calling them Nanny B (a combination of Nanny and their Uncle’s name) Aunt B (really their uncle’s name) and Uncle C (really their aunt’s name.)

1. Youngest daughter: Can I have a cheesestick?
Youngest son: I’ll get it my lady.
Youngest son: *bringing it to her* Here you go my lady.

And that’s a wrap for this week!

Just wanted to pop on and wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas from all of us here at Faith and Family Reviews! We hope you remember the true meaning of Christmas.

FFR Reflection of trees on water in NS

This photo reminds me of a water color painting but it is one I took with my iPhone on a hike in Nova Scotia on December 1st – I think it is a beautiful view and it was more so in person. More about our trip in the new year!

Last Minute Gift Ideas for Cats and Dogs

FFR image for posts

Are you looking for last minute gift ideas for cats and dogs? We were able to get a few things for our cats and dog for Christmas. I have to say they came in pretty handy and have been a nice addition to our pet supplies and pet pantry!

ökocat Natural Cat Litters

okocat litter

Our children do most of the animal care on a daily basis. Our 14 year daughter assured me that the ökocat Natural Cat Litter worked really well and she could not smell any odor from the cat litter. I cannot vouch for that since I have not been out to the “kitty palace” the children made for them since getting back from Nova Scotia.

Facts About ökocat Natural Cat Litter:
– Natural Pinewood and Paper Pulp
– Industry leading 7-Day odor control
– Holds up to 500% its weight in liquid
– 4 unique formulas include clumping, long-haired, pine, and dust-free options
– Eco-friendly, biodegradable

Available at www.healthy-pet.com

Sherpa® Safety Suite™

Sherpa Safety Suite

We have not had a chance to use this safety suite yet (purple pet carrier not included). It is good for both cats and smaller dog carriers. We got this product for our oldest daughter for when she gets her new cat. It is basically a grey base that allows you to strap your soft carrier into your car with a seat belt. It also works with a small pet carrier like the one we have shown in the photo below.

FFR Sherpa Safety Suite_2

Facts About Sherpa® Safety Suite™:
– Helps improve vehicle safety for pets
– Fits into standard carseat safety locks
– 6-sided restraint system prevents tipping, sliding, and lateral shifting
– Works with any brand of soft-sided pet carrier
– Safety-tested

e-Cloth

ecoth pet travel bed

We got a chocolate brown colored pet bed. Light colored items for pets is not my idea of practical! The first time we gave it to our dog while he was recuperating from being neutered – ouch! It is very soft and he is using it…sometimes…remember, he is an outdoor dog. It rolls up nicely and would be great while traveling over the holidays.

Facts about e-Cloth (from their website):
– Perfect for long car trips, a holiday away, vacation, camping, staying with a friend or even every day use at home
– Plush and deeply padded top
– Hard wearing and waterproof underneath the base
– Can be quickly rolled up, making a perfect travel bed
– Comes with Velcro fasteners and integrated carry handle
– Size: 35.35″ x 23.5″
– 100% Polyester (Waterproof Polyoxford Material)

Hear Doggy Toy

Hear Doggy Toy

Our dog loves to play and chew on things. We gave him the dragon Hear Doggy Toy to give him something to do while he recuperates (in the garage!) after his surgery. But it would be a great little travel toy too!

Facts About Hear Doggy:
– Perfect silent toy for holiday travel
– New characters include Elephant, Gator, Giraffe, and Cow
– Chew Guard Technology™ for tough play!
– “Flattie” (no stuffing) designs

Delightibles for Cats

Pet Gift Ideas: Treats

FFR image for posts

We had the opportunity to review some pet treats not so long ago. Most of them were for our dog but we did get a little something for our cats too. We try hard to feed our animals healthy food and treats. We want them to live a long and healthy life and believe a healthy diet is a huge part in achieving this goal. If you have a pet on your Christmas list, Evanger’s has pet gift ideas to consider for the health of your pet. It is a new pet food brand to us, but here are some facts that we like about them:

Holiday and Kosher Pet Foods
Made in the USA
Over 40 certified Kosher meals for Dogs and Cats for Hannukah
Human-grade, USA-sourced ingredients
GMO-Free, No Preservatives
Even Grain Free

About Evanger’s

Padfoot LOVED his treats, as you can see in the above photo! He really got into them. 🙂

Evanger’s Organics for Cats

We do not know about you but we usually share our holiday meals with our dog and cats. We have to get after the children for giving our pets our favorite pieces of meat! Evanger’s Organics for Cats has a healthy option of Turkey Butternut Squash Dinner, which your cat is sure to enjoy this Christmas or Hannukah season! I know ours did. I did not realize until after the fact that my photos of the cats eating did not turn out well so I do not have any photos of them gobbling down their treat. But I assure you they LOVED it!
