Beginner Driver in The House

Bobbie is actually doing really well with her driving lessons. I see her improve each time we go driving. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t nervous. I just try not to show it and correct her in a calm, matter of fact voice. That’s how my mom, dad and uncle (he took me out driving a stick shift!) were with me. I am proud of Bobbie’s developing driving skills and the fact she takes is seriously and cautiously. She’s got a pretty good head on her shoulders, which should make her a good driver.

Have you taught your children to drive? If so, how did you feel about the whole experience?

  1. I’m so not ready for this! I only have 5 yrs before Gabe starts learning. EEK!

  2. Tammy says:

Our daughter is 18 and still hasn’t learned how to drive. When she does she’s going to driving school, I don’t have the patience to teach her how to drive!

  3. Jenn says:

It’s hard to keep a cool, calm manner when you’re freaking out on the inside. Kudos to you!

  4. Kathy says:

My kids are a ways off from driving. I am dreading it. Their father is going to have to teach them.

  5. Donna says:

My son has 5 years before he will start driving and he already tole me he wanted me to teach him. I’m not sure I can be/stay calm enough or not. :/

I don’t have any kids so I cant say from a parent point of view. I was so nervous and excited when I first started to learn to drive!!

  7. HilLesha says:

Not really looking forward to that day. I’m definitely going to be nervous when my children get old enough to learn how to drive. :)

  8. Marcie W. says:

My oldest just turned 10, so we have a few years before driving is an issue, but I can tell you now it will definitely be my husband who teaches our children.

  9. Crystal says:

We aren’t there yet, but I am sort of dreading those days. I remember learning to drive myself & how much I stressed my parents.

  10. Angela says:

I will admit that I was really nervous and that was a long time ago. I’d be scared to death these days with all the traffic and worrying about careless drivers.

  11. Kathleen says:

It really really worries me that my oldest just turned 14 and can get his permit next year. I don’t think he is anywhere near ready for being on the road.
